ASUS X99 MOTHERBOARDS FOR BROADWELL-E UNVEILED

I've never had an Asus motherboard, but I'll definitely be considering the X99 A-II when I build my new PC (planned for August). New Gigabyte boards have already been revealed. I'm guessing MSI will be next. :)

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Haha! Yes, whoops! I must've had GB on the brain after searching for DDR4. :D

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

That seems very unlikely. I have 16 TB (4 x 4 TB) in my N40L and my N54L.

How many of you are going to get a Broadwell-E CPU?

Thinking about it. My i7-860 is still going strong, although it does take a little while to batch process larger RAW files. You can probably guess, I don't do any gaming. :) I would like to have a crystal ball, though. After what happened with Broadwell and Skylake, who knows what will happen...

    DDR3 to DDR4 Upgrade Worthwhile?

Thanks for the replies. This article confirms that DDR3 is not likely to be supported by Z170. So I guess I'll be upgrading RAM as well. :) I'll look into the X99 option, as well. Thanks!

    DDR3 to DDR4 Upgrade Worthwhile?

Hi guys, I've been out of the loop for quite a while (basically since I upgraded to the i7-860 and MSI P55-GD65 back in 2009). But I'm planning on upgrading next month, probably to the i7-6700 (or the K, depending what the release schedule looks like), and motherboard TBD. I have 16 GiB...

    WD Green vs. Seagate

I'll take a look and see what the price difference is. I shan't be using any form of RAID, but I assume there's a utility to (permanently) disable TLER on the WD Reds.

    WD Green vs. Seagate

Thanks for the opinions, everyone. It looks like a lot of it might come down to your luck at the time. Some people have had bad experiences with both companies. I agree about Samsung, though: that's what I'm using now (8 x HD204UI). If only there were an HD404UI, I would snap them up in a...

    WD Green vs. Seagate

Hi guys, I haven't been following the storage industry recently, but I'm now in the position of wanting to buy a bunch of 4 TB drives (possibly up to eight of 'em). I have access to WD Green WD40EZRX and Seagate Barracuda ST4000DM000. They're the same price. I have Seagate drives at the...

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Guys, I need some BIOS/boot help. Every time I insert a new USB device, the MicroServer automatically configures itself to boot from this device. When this fails (because they're non-boot drives or just memory sticks or whatever), the machine does not continue to boot; it just stops dead. :(...

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Has anyone installed the HP TPM module, part number 488069-B21? I'm running WHS 2011, and I want to enable BitLocker on all my drives. The module seems to go for ~£30, although I'm debating whether the benefits are worth it (to me). (I mean, I'll still enable BitLocker, but I'll just use a USB...

***The Official Windows Home Server 2011 Thread***

Hi guys, I have AWIECO WakeonLAN installed, and I've set it to install on the server plus all client computers. It works OK on the server, but it's not getting distributed to the client computers. Any ideas why? This page (step 3) claims that there's an hourly task (InstallAddIns) to push...

    External 2.5" Enclosure

Thanks for the link Yes it is considered a competitor! Looks similar to the ones I found on another site earlier. I guess I'll go for one of those, though it's a shame OcUK don't have the Lepa ones anymore. I think I got the one I already have for 98p!

    External 2.5" Enclosure

Quick Q: Does anyone know if this enclosure is still available, or if there's anything similar (and preferably similarly priced!) that I could get instead? Thanks!

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

I'm going to answer my own question, because it wasn't as mysterious as I first thought. ;) You first have to select the priority within each category of device: hard drives, removable drives, etc. Once you've done that, you can select, e.g., "hard drives first, then network, then removable...

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Hi guys. I have a problem that I'm guessing others here are likely to have encountered. I connected an external USB drive to my MicroServer the other day. The next time I restarted the machine, it failed to boot. When I connected my monitor, I could see that it was failing to find a boot drive...

    Nanoxia Deep Silence DS1

+1 for the Fractal copy. The Fractal Design Define R3/R4 is significantly better than the Antec P180 (in my opinion). Does Nanoxia manage to outdo Fractal this time around? Air chimney (but Fractal has vents there; I have exhaust fans there), retractable I/O ports (good for me, as I only plug...
