Just built new i5 system, help needed with BIOS

Thanks for the replies on this, I did not solve the problem in the end but have kind of given up now! Faugusztin - On the page where the multipliers are, the turbo is locked as the same as the non-turbo multi. I have made sure turbo mode is enabled on the subpage but still no joy. Perhaps...

    OEM v Retail when overclocking?

Interesting that you believe overclocking will void the warranty Showboat. I was told by Faugusztin in another thread that OCing doesn't void the warranty except if you burn the CPU. Would like to know the definitive answer on this (if there is one!) as I bought an i5 and planned not to...

***The Official Core i5 Overclocking Thread***

Hi guys, need a bit of help please and thought this was the most appropriate section to come to. I have just built a new system, the main components of which are i5 750, Gigabyte P55-UD3, and G-Skill 4gb 1600mhz 7-7-7-24 RAM. It's the BIOS I'm struggling with...it defaults the RAM to 1333mhz...

Just built new i5 system, help needed with BIOS

The XMP profile seemed to work and did what you said it would. The only thing is the CPU turbo frequency & ratio is now coming up as the same as the non-turbo settings (ie both at x16) and I cant find anywhere to alter it...

Just built new i5 system, help needed with BIOS

ok I understand that the memory needs overclocking but why aren't the timings defaulting to 7-7-7-24? Or will it only do that when I've overclocked to 1600mhz? Re the CPU, I dont really want to void the warranty. Am I ok as long as I dont go over the stock speed? ie. 160mhz x 16 = 2560 Thanks

Just built new i5 system, help needed with BIOS

Just finished my 1st ever PC build and it works! I've got an i5 750 with Gigabyte UD3 and G-Skill 1600mhz 7-7-7-24 RAM. I haven't installed an operating system yet but something I've noticed in the BIOS is that the RAM only seems to be operating at only 1333mhz and 9-9-9-24 timings...

    i5 spec check

Yes I am on a bit of a budget but then again the PSU should last a fair while so don't mind spending extra. Anyone able to recommend a HSF for the i5 as I really have no idea on this area... Also is the Antec 300 case regarded any more highly than the Coolermaster Elite? Thanks

    Help with i5 build please

Thanks for the replies so far. The following article suggests that the Realtek audio codec in the Gigabyte boards is better than the Via codec in the Asus which makes a difference for me. Does anyone know anything about the Gigabyte US3L? Is the UD3 better?

    Help with i5 build please

Hi guys, really struggling choosing a motherboard for my new i5 build. I want to spend as little as possible really but would also like to do some overclocking at some point in the future (nothing extreme) so if that means I need to spend some extra cash then so be it. I quite like the look of...
