    SATA-II explained

RAID is a method of combining n (when 'n' is any reasonable number >1) separate but similar (preferably identical) discs (of the same size) to appear as one to the operating system. RAID 0 is where the discs are all used fully, but the information written to them by the OS is split into small...

OcUK Official G-Meter Top 20 - Now ADDED Nürburgring Lap times (BTG)

:p Feel like adding some results with my completely un-modded 205. Seeing as I haven't passed my test yet, and there's not a track near me (just have to get on the A12 at 2am I suppose), it won't be for a while yet :(

    Overclock World Record of 7.44GHz?

Lol - the Star Trek BSOD makes me laugh.

Even More Strange Goings on With My OC!!

[Thread steal] I've got a cold-boot problem, I'll try upping the v-core as reygjabla suggested and I'll report back when I next cold boot. [/Thread steal]

Apache's in push/pull - Problem with using PWM?

Option one will work. The fans will probably run slower (depending on if the splitter is series or parallel), but I'm not certain. With option two, either the fans will run slower or the board will have to provide more voltage (same reason as above). I'm not sure which, it'll probably be a...

    Cold Boot Issues

I'm having cold boot issues, ever since I dropped my voltages. I've dropped all my voltages to as low as they'll go whilst still being able to run prime 95 for >24 hours solid, and intel burn test etc. For some reason, the computer won't boot from cold and has to triple boot (that's first...

Trying to decide on the best gaming mouse and keyboard

You have 2 dual core 1333MHz FSB CPUs and you've gone and put 667MHz RAM in with them? Oh, and noob question but what's the point in ECC? EDIT: Strike that, it clicked. You're running a server (or renderer) (hence 2.5Gb Storage, multiple CPUs, ECC RAM etc.) Never the less, even FB-Dimms...

    Cleaning a PC?

Why would a vacuum cleaner generate any more static than compressed air? And surely any static would be grounded anyway if you left the power cable plugged in (switched off, obviously :p). I use a vacuum cleaner (but not often enough), it does the job mostly.

Trying to decide on the best gaming mouse and keyboard

I've got the G5 and G11 - I love them, and they are amazing (would be even better if I had more desk space) but I've never found much use for the G keys on the G11 (54 combinations is a little more than I need for any games I play). Maybe I'm just not hardcore enough :(

Worth the Price from a supermarket?

Lol? I've bought a few things from the blue supermarket, like my screen. The box said DVI, which was the only reason I bought it. It was VGA.

How long were you 'getting round to it'? Last time I upgraded anything major was more than a year ago. :S

My HD4890 did that straight out of the box :S It seems to be alright now though.

Who has damaged/broken a CPU from overclocking?

Never damaged anything through overclocking, although I fried two AMD Athlon chips by switching them between two very different (but still Socket A) motherboards back in my noob days. Needless to say they haven't worked since. I'm running my E4300 with a 66% increased clock, and have been...

    i5 spec check

Just a pointer - if you can stretch £20, and plan to go Crossfire in the future, consider getting one of these: HIS HD4870 1Gb £103 It'll be that much longer before you have to upgrade and when you do, the 2Gb memory total will keep you in the game (lol - pun) for a lot longer that 1Gb...

Worth the Price from a supermarket?

Vista is obsolete. Q8300 alone is £140, but it's also not very future-proof (compared to i5) and is outstripped by any Q9x50, which aren't much more. GT220 is cheap as chips - with GDDR3 RAM, 128Bit memory bus and a 600MHz graphics core :p Basically, it's fairly old technology (equivalent...

** AVAILABLE TO BUY *** Thermaltake Level 10 Gaming Case

I love all of it - except the actual motherboard box. Which is, frankly, a box. I could buy it :p Then I'd have no money :( And it wouldn't be visible within the week, it would just appear to be a pile of dust 2' high.

    Raid Questions

I've been wanting to do that for a long time - but so far haven't had the time or energy to try. Are you sure you can't just move the My Documents folder from c: to d:? I think this is possible, at least in windows 7. The same for your desktop. If it doesn't work directly, you could try to...

    Raid Questions

If you're still hankering for RAID, then it may be easier to set up without anything on the 'My Documents' Disk. (Not even the My Doc. folder). So far I've been unable to test my theories because it's taking a long time to shrink the backups compartment on my Maxtor. So sorry about that...
