As daz.wallace hints, a dedicated monitor is a must for the photographer. An HDTV may be ok for a HTPC but not IMO for serious image editing in CS3, CS4, Lightroom etc., processing HDR & Raw files as you intend, especially 37", unless your editing from your sofa and the HDTV is on the other side...
I'm considering these fans for a case upgrade, my stock case has a single 'noisey' 92mm chassis fan (rear exhuast) I don't regard 5 fans to be excessive and I'm certain these will improve the thermal environment;
1. 120mm Front Intake = HDD Cooling
2. 120mm Rear Exhaust
3. 120mm Top...
They're certainly not a budget fan but like most things in life, broadly speaking, " you get what you pay for". I'm looking at 5 so £90 :eek:
I guess it's all relative when comparing the costs of components in general & what we are prepared to spend on our hobby. £18 for a fan of this spec...

I've also been contemplating both the BlackSilent & Multiframe S-Series...Some more info. here http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/display/120-140-fans-roundup.html may be of help for those interested in the Noiseblocker Fans ;)
RJC thanks for wink! I'm such a Numpty & obvious Newbie! Forum Rule 1 broken already, what a Thug! :p I've edited the post & I'm off to read the rules thoroughly! :)
This may help, Search 'magnetic fan filter' I use these under my bottom grill & PSU fan to keep the dust out, infact I use several on my case, I think they're brill!
I have the same Q9550 CPU on an ASUS P5N-D board http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-265-AS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1057 with 8GB OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 SLI-Ready Edition RAM, 2 x Asus EN9600GT's + CoolinK GFXChilla GPU Cooler (SLI) and it's a solid performer IMHO. With this...
Does your mobo support PWM (4 pin header for CPU Cooling)?...If it does the cha_fan header should allow you to control the speed of any fan attached using the Asus Q-Fan utility.
I have a PN5-D from Asus that supports a 4 pin PWM fan connection, it has a further two 3 pin headers, cha_fan1 &...
Thanks for all your replies guys, it looks as though I'll have to experiment with my setup to see if 'push or pull' or indeed neither have any effect at reducing the GPU temps.
It's interesting to hear your experiences and learn there are no absolutes...at least I can't fit them wrong...
I have a new Coolermaster Gladiator 600 case... http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-178-CM&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=29 ...on it's way for my rig upgrade.
I want to use the 120/140mm side fan grills to aid the cooling of my sli'd graphics cards which sit very close...
Excellent DigitalReaper! Thanks for all yr knowledge and expertise, I'm up to speed on this now...forgive the pun!...and thank you for posting the link for me.
I'm learning so much from you knowledgable folk on the forum and it's great to get the info. I need to do the jobs I want before...
Thanks DigitalReaper...I think I understand you correctly?
If the CPU and 2 additional fans were connected via the cable, to the mobo header, the software will still only show the CPU fan for monitoring but all 3 RPM values will be changed in sync with any CPU fan adjustment I make? So it...
So the splitter just seperates the CPU side of the cable from the 2 additional input plugs, software will recognise CPU + 1 other PWM connected fan from the 2 inputs on the splitter?
Planning to use 2 x Akasa AK-FN057 Apache Super Silent 120mm fans but would really like independent control...
My Asus P5N-D Mobo supports PWM on 3 of it's 4 fan headers and I use the Asus Utilities; AI Suite & PC Probe II to monitor these, also SpeedFan. System cooling is as follows;
1st = 4 pin CPU = CPU (OCZ Vendetta CPU Cooler fitted)
2nd = 3 pin Chassis Fan 1 = MB Chipset/System (Fractal...
Great! Thank you for your reply :)
Does anybody use the above combination (Asus GeForce 9600GT + Coolink GFXChilla)?
I also use the S/PDIF header (2 pin) on my graphics card for digital sound out from my Mobo through the 2nd DVI-I output connector on my master (SLI) graphics card, via an...
I want to replace my Asus GeForce 9600GT's (SLI), stock coolers for dedicated GPU Coolers.
I have decided on the Coolink GFXChilla's, reviews are good, it's low profile, will only take up 2 expansion slots (each card) on my Asus P5N-D Mobo which is ideal for me as I can still use the bottom...
I must admit, that hadn't occured to me and is plausable, I'm new to SpeedFan, having only installed it a few days ago, i'm not familiar with it's quirks as yet.
Any ideas on the 3rd Q-Fan2/PWM header in terms of it's purpose/use/application. I'm thinking of using it for a RAM Cooler, which...
I'm getting a temp reading using SpeedFan and I have no idea where the sensor is located or where SpeedFan is getting the reading from?
SpeedFan is reporting 3 temps...Temp1, Temp2, Temp3...as well as GPU and core temps. Temps 1 & 2 are CPU & Mobo Chipset but I'm confused about Temp3. With...
