Wet sanding with the oil would work - the "slurry" will fill any imperfections as you go, giving an overall smoother finish. I'd probably wet sand with steel wool, or a slightly higher grit than 600.

I'm out today and according to DPD my only options are to have it delivered another day. Won't leave with a neighbour, the local shop or take it for collection at the depot.. I'm not in next week, so I guess it'll just be returned to Samsung then. Madness....
