    Question for broadband engineers

Ah that's very interesting thanks for the info. With regards to tethering what I meant is that when working from home I am scuppered during a power cut because there is no mobile 4G signal I can use to tether to my work laptop to carry on working.

    Question for broadband engineers

So just had a power cut which proves problematic when working from home because I have no phone signal to tether from when the router goes down. No problem I thought, I got the spare fully charged car battery from the garage connected it up to the sine wave inverter I have and powered up the...

    1660 super now or wait?

Well got the card today and I'm happy, over twice the fps in heaven benchmark and the Assetto Corsa benchmark. Also managed to put a 160mhz clock on the GPU core, and a scarcely believable 1000mhz on the memory and it seems completely stable! Will have to keep playing and see.

    1660 super now or wait?

Thanks all, I think I just need to bite the bullet, I am holding back on certain games, fallout 76 for example and also I want to play the new flight sim which simply isn't going to happen on the 7950.

Temporary GPU - Vega 56 RMA

Personally seems a waste buying a new £45 low end gpu when you can pick up an old gaming card like a 5850 for a tenner on Ebay.

    1660 super now or wait?

After a bit of advice, I've put together a new Ryzen 3600 build over lockdown as an upgrade from my aging fx8320 the only thing I haven't yet done is the graphics card, I'm still running a 7950 which is obviously holding me back now. I only play at 1080p and found I can get a 1660super brand...

Oh that's encouraging then! I'll have a harder look for some comparisons I couldn't find any before.

OcUK Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X review thread

I've been thinking about updating my ageing fx 8230 8 core for a while now and think the 3300x might be the a good route to go down for me with a tight budget. The boost in gaming performance will be handy as I plan to upgrade my also aging 7950 down the line, but one thing I want to make sure...

    Discovery 3

It might be worth giving the l322 range rover a look in. People seemed more scared of them costing them money that a d3 but realistically they're not really anymore complicated. Avoid the early BMW diesel and go for a TDV8 and you have a much much more reliable engine that the tdv6 in a D3...

    Discovery 3

Whilst I agree D2s are much worse on the rust front D3s can and do rust on the chassis and it would be very risky to not give one a good look over before buying!

    Discovery 3

I've been looking at D3's for ages, I currently have a D2 and really fancy one as an upgrade. The biggest problem for me is the random catastrophic engine failure both the 2.7 and 3.0 diesels can have. The failure is the crankshaft itself snapping, its completely random and can happen at 50k...

    Jaguar E-Pace test drive issues

My biggest frustration with all JLR products is in the gearbox delay, the 9 speed in the transverse platform being the worst culprit, however the 8 speed isn't that much better. It's so frustrating knowing that BMW use the same gearbox but it's so much more responsive, it must all be in the...

Worst auto gearboxes on new modern cars

The most frustrating one for me is the ZF 8 speed in JLR products. It's frustrating because we know how good the 8 speed can be ie BMW... but somehow JLR cars just don't get it quite right, massive delays on kick downs and pullaways and jerky slow shifts in the lower gears.

    Road Tripping in the USA!

We are planning on doing a route very similar to the opening posters in 2020 for our honeymoon, hoping to go for just under 3 weeks. I also really fancied getting a convertible mustang but I'd had a thought recently of can you actually get 2 full-size suitcases and 2 hand luggage in the boot...

    Time for a change.....FN2 Type R?

The main thing with fn2s is it will be a huge step down in refinement and comfort from a 3 series I assume you are okay with that? The ride is bone shaking they have next to no refinement from road noise everything rattles and shakes from every minute bump in the road. Also bits of ours fall...

Mid-sized family cars with refinement & impressive interiors?

The interiors of modern Jags are their biggest issue they're boring and basic nothing special at all sadly, the Range Rover Velar on the other hand has a lovely interior.

Keeping a direct injection engine healthy

Pretty sure a 2016 TSI has 8 injectors 4 main ones direct and then 4 port injectors too.

    mx5, mr2 or mgf

The one in the glove box does the front bonnet. The one to the right of the driver seat does the rear one, the lock that you use the keys to turn locks the fuel filler cap so no one can nick your petrol if you leave the car with the roof down!
