The 5xxx cards are reportedly much quieter. I never had a 4xxx but my 5870 is MUCH quieter than my old 8800GTS 512mb. :D

I've never had anything Asus go wrong. Mobos, graphics cards, sound cards etc. The front light on my Gigabyte case flickered out within a month though :D
