    Brewdog

Had it draught, and didn't think it tasted anything like Guinness. Not much body, and a lot more coffee. Didn't like it. This was at least a year ago I suspect, so no doubt a recipe change. It is their MO!

Just had a smart meter installed. Am I missing something or is Octopus Tracker a complete no brainer?

Pickups losing their commercial vehicle status

The owners pretty key. If the employee is the owner, then it’s not a company car.

    UK to Birmingham, Alabama

You'll almost definitely be cheaper buying a return and just not using the return. Check Google Flights, as you can amend the 'length'.

I suggested we get a cheap hotel for the first night, ideally at the airport but she said no and just wanted to get there. So, paid for the room although we booked in so late. Never mind!

    Ba companion voucher

Was £100 each and 50k avios for both of us. So, based on the calcs it was £250 each which seems good value. Less the £50 worth of booze I drank aswell!

    Ba companion voucher

Booked two return flights, in economy, to Dubai from Edinburgh with 14 days notice. The free BA Amex doesn’t allow business class flights, but £100 each to Dubai was a deal!

Bit of closure. Stayed in the Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach for three nights. It was nice, and though it was good value at £671.20 for 3 nights, including breakfast for two. We arrived very late (around 2.30am) and the hotel staff were very welcoming and it was a welcoming big bed. The hotel is...

Tips needed for trip to Paris

Surely flying is the sensible option here? Fly from Bristol with EasyJet. £70 per person return. Leave at 7.15. Arrive at 9.35. You’ll be at the Eiffel Tower by 11am. Though if it’s only five hours on the train, definitely do that. I bet the Eurostar is more comfy than the car!

What’s the longest non-stop flight you’ve taken - distance or time?

Used to go into the cockpit quite a lot in late nineties when flying KLM to and from Abu Dhabi from Amsterdam. I had a “pilots log book” which the captain would sign and give me a badge. I’ve ‘flown’ a 747 before - at least, sat in the seat and moved the stick! I think it was mostly my dad...

    Bristol Stag Do

So, Friday was check into the hotel then left handed giant. Pub crawl through King Street. Shout out to Lucy at the Navy! Ended up, I’m ashamed to say, at Prysm… Saturday was escape room, followed my drinks in The Phoenix. Down to the gin bar on the boat at Welsh Back. Then NQ64. Dinner at...

The 8 is better than the 16 imo. Both great, but the 8 is more interesting imo.

What’s the longest non-stop flight you’ve taken - distance or time?

I’m with you. I’m 6’1 and really don’t mind economy. Amsterdam to Tokyo would be the longest I’ve done, but economy is totally fine. You can watch some films, walk around a bit, relax, eat and drink. It’s really not that bad!

I booked the Sofitel Jumeirah Beach in the end. Will update the thread with how I found it in a couple of weeks.

Last minute trip to Dubai is being planned for a fortnight. I'm a bit overwhelmed with hotels. I think I want to stay in the Marina as there are friends nearby and the Palm seems too quiet and like the idea of nosying at the superyachts and I'm reading there are plenty of bars etc in the area...

I’ll let you know! I had a pocket spring one before and thought I’d try this now. Reviews seem good, but agree the basic foam only one suffers from what you’re saying. This one has springs and memory foam.
