TBF,even Digital Foundry recommended the 7900GRE at £500ish over the RTX4070,so it depends on what price level you are looking at. However,I think once you start spending more money it does become a consideration IMHO. If say you are spending £600 to £700 on a card, you probably do want to turn...
I played the earlier version of ARK a decent amount - it's basically like open world Dino-Riders with base building. A lot of fun,but it always hammered hardware, been quite pretty but always not the best optimised. It's a fun game, but can be very grindy - the soundtrack is really good.
It could be a turntable that was you bought for £2000 20 years ago which you sold for £2050 now, but is £4000 brand new. That £50 is classed as profit even though £2000 20 years ago is worth far more with inflation in 2024.
Also they don't take inflation into consideration. So you could have bought an expensive item years ago,and with inflation technically lost money on it,but it would be classed as a profit.
I got my RTX3060TI by seeing a random alert on HUKD, clicking through the deal and getting one. There was a big drop of cards during the summer just before the RX6600XT was released - think it was MLID or RGT which mentioned it beforehand so that was helpful.
Geez Louise,I was paraphrasing Digital Foundry - maybe people need to watch some of their videos - Richard has talked about it. Also I was responding to Humbug. Also considering I played over 200 hours of the game, not really sure why stating the obvious on how it runs is now considered...
It's a showcase for Nvidia tech,so I can understand why it does well on Nvidia hardware - even DF said the same. I mean you could use various COD games(one of the most popular games out there),to say how AMD is "better" too. In the end it depends on what you want to run. People have to accept it...
You literally said RT is not punishing and implied you just needed an RTX3080. Then you made fun of the performance of the RX7800XT. I just showed you what most gamers had on Steam - cards worse or no better than an RX7800XT in RT. The fastest Nvidia card upto nearly £500 has worse than an...
The fact you act like an RTX3080 is a nothing dGPU! :o
The most common dGPU used by gamers is the RTX3060. I have an RTX3060TI and the most powerful Nvidia dGPU under £500,officially is still the RTX4060TI. The top20 cards on Steam are:

You will be also CPU limited in some of those games too. In DX12 games,AMD dGPUs also seem to do relatively better than Nvidia ones with a lower end CPU on average, but conversely the same in DX11 with Nvidia cards. I still stick my recommendation of not spending over £200/230 Euro on an 8GB card...
What is your CPU and PSU? AMD cards seem to do better on lower end CPUs in DX12 and Nvidia historically in DX11. 300 Euro is around £260ish here - in the UK you could get a brand new RX6750XT a few weeks ago for £40 more. I would have a look and see if there is a new deal on an...
