I`d say air cooling doesn`t really have anywhere else to go....it`s been mastered for a while now & I can`t see how they`d bring anything new to the table? Will probably just be average temp-wise.

to play Metro with any setup requires lots to be turned down/off if you like good frame rates - the game lasts less than 10 hours as well.....pathetic..... madness for anyone to be basing an upgrade around it really

It would`ve taken a lower price from Nvidia to reduce ATi prices really. It seems that Fermi will be priced quite a few £`s over its performance levels & the 5870/5850 will be the better bang for buck even if marginally slower...makes no business sense at all to lower prices, some people are...

it never helps when they always keep the latest software just out of reach..... even for the latest hardware...I had a 5970 for a few days & realised quite quickly it wasn`t going to be good enough in the near future so I went to the 5870 & save myself about £230. I don`t remember many cards...

I tried benching with the tessellation slider controls on different settings & it has a big effect especially on minimum framerate (with not much visual difference at all).....I wonder if Nvidia had this kind of option on their 1.1 version which helped them appear better in tessellation? would...

I think it`s most likely Fermi will sell out (first decent batch) completely before a single proper benchmark is released...has this happened before? It`s certainly not a risk I would take personally (happy with my 5870 Vapor-X). I am also concerned about the heat with Fermi & with the summer...

If you have vsync on in a game & your system is capable of sustaining over 60fps it will "lock" @ 60 - always bench with vsync off;)

The only thing I would base my own opinion on atm is the fact that it`s so close to launch & there`s no proper benchmarks anywhere.....if these cards were that good they would be showing off don`t you think?....if my card was the best I`d paint my arse purple & stand on top of buildings shouting...

The best card for £80 by far would be someone selling a HD5970 for £80....amazed no-one thought of that.....:eek:
