I wear softshell pants and waterproof trousers to block the wind, then base layer if it's really cold otherwise I just end up with sweaty nads

I have the HH lifa stripe base layers I rate a lot. Not great for low temps on their own but I use them for sleeping in or if it's not absolutely baltic. On freezing days in the UK, I usually run in shorts and some Aldi special synthetic bottoms

They do stretch a bit to be fair but I'm a bit fan of polartec fabric I've had a few jackets over the years and they perform well in wind and rain. They do have a limit with freezing temps and wet you certainly feel your fingers, but I have a few pairs and rotate. I often just use them without...

So I went to Peru in November to tour a bit of the Amazon Jungle. I was in Peru the year before climbing mountains, where me and our camera lady who was with the guides we hired took a liking to each other and maintained contact once I was back home. One of the places that stood out in a...

I have a Rab Neutrino Pro that does me. If I got another I'd probably go a little more fill power. I spoke to Rab before I bought it and they advised that any of above it would be too hot for UK weather, but stood about watching the son play football I can still be cold and I use a hoodie or...

I cant wait. I did some hunting and managed to secure this as a trip. Different operator as they seem to disappear off the face of the earth so found a group with 2.5k likes and wired them about £80 deposit so I'm either going to find myself ripped off or have an epic few days adventure Shihui...

    Mattresses - I need knowledge

As above I cant fault mine but went with the artisan naturals as I read a few bad reviews about anything under this but nothing on the naturals. Which do you have?

    Mattresses - I need knowledge

Had this coming up two years now and still as comfy as the day I bought it. Not sure if it's cause there's only 1 person sleeping on it that it has prolonged it. I used to have shoulder and back ache all the time but touch wood they're perfectly fine now, and the only negative about this bed is...

Just booked up to go back to Peru at the end of November but this time I'm heading off into the Amazon Jungle. I've almost completed my itinerary after many late nights this week looking at things to do in the area. I am still waiting on a few things such as a tour operator getting more people...

Titanic submersible confirmed destroyed with loss of all five souls onboard.

Sorry to be picky but hydrostatic pressure tests are "at least 1.5 times the maximum working pressure". If you go too high, such as 2.5 times, then you actually risk stressing the material to the point it fails. 2.25 was probably done as it was still less than 90% of the weakest material's yield...

Trying to do a mountain a month but I've managed 2+ so far. I've done a movie of all my adventures using the gopro app which is pretty easy to make simple movies. here's a few

Made a video of my trip to Peru to climb Chopicalqui (6354m) Rather long so well done if you make it to the end. Haven't really looked at these pics since we did it so I've enjoyed the process of making this and going through all the photos/videos and it'll be a nice remembrance of the trip I...

Take crampons when with you at the slightest hint of freezing temps, or go when you know there will be a snow line (elevation where snow begins) and keep walking (so long as it's safe). you'll know when to put on your crampons due to traction. In mixed terrain it's a grey area judgement as to...

I've been in some cold environments and I've always just used base layer bottoms, with pants like ME ibex or montane terra over the top, and rab firewall overtrousers over them to offer the best flexability. I find my legs don't get as hot, and you can be a lot more flexible then. fleesy pants I...

I had the same. luckily I wore mine in the snow as after 5km they wrecked both my heels. The problem is a lot of places don't stock half sizes so if you're between then it's really an expensive foot killer. My walk didn't really put any wear on the boots so I was able to put the tag back on...
