We go through bouts of de-cluttering. Usually around new year and when we get fed up living with all our rubbish! I usually try and do as much as I can over 2 days to make it worth it. First day is a high level sort of things i know I can chuck quickly and stuff i'll need to sort through (moved...
Was quite happy with my shower fix over the weekend. Replaced the solonoid :) - total cost of fix was £10 for the part. I think i saved at least £50 call out fee plus whatever a someones hourly rate is.
we'd just be cannon fodder to slow down any advance - it would depend on what we are asked to do i.e be on the front line, or support with taking supplies to and from places.
I can only describe what I saw and heard. All stock - the PSU was squealing under load - it has always squealed a bit but with the 3080fe at stock it wasnt having a great time. I undervolted the GPU and the squeeling went away and the stutters I got when running the RDR2 graphics benchmark...
650w is definately pushing it. I have a 3080fe on a 650W Seasonic SFXL PSU and the PSU was on the verge of failing if I didnt undervolt the GPU. The GPU was trying to pull 300W-ish at stock and was making my PSU squeal and the RDR2 benchmark stutter, I undervolted the 3080fe and all is well. The...
Oh I have and it still runs hotter and louder than the red dragon 6800xt I let go. My 3080 hits 200w at full load after undervolting. The 6800xt was hovering around 150w full load after undervolting and was quieter due to more and bigger fans.
I've been fortunate enough to get both a 3080fe and a 6800xt. The card I settled with replaced a 2070 super so I got a taste of cyberpunk with raytracing.
It's a long story but I initially got a 6800 and then always had that niggling feeling that I should have went for the 6800xt. A 6800xt...
That's another reason why I wish I had gone for the 3090, bigger fans = lower rpm = quieter. Plus the 3080 doesn't have much case presence :P I really liked the look of the heftier 2070 Super it replaced.
RRP feels good doesnt it :p
I got a 3080 FE at MSRP and was well chuffed. Wish I had gone for a 3090 though but the place you get them from limits you to one 3000 series card full stop now. So I don't think im in with a sniff of getting a 3080ti :(. I hope 10GB VRAM holds up ok... but that's...
Ah, i thought that was a sure fire way to tell without software. Did more googling and found this: https://www.quora.com/Can-I-use-a-different-brand-of-RAM-if-they-both-have-the-same-MHz-I-am-using-a-G-skill-3600-MHz-RAM-single-stick
There is a picture with chips on both sides and it still...
If you take a look under the heatspreader (without taking it off) you should either see chips on both sides of the ram stick which means dual rank, or chips on one side of the stick with the other side having some sort of filler which means is single rank.
J10 - did you get the ram from...
Ah ok, I thought maybe Crucial had changed things up as Tejstar was asking about the code M16FB1 - so it sounds like dual rank B die then?
Only thing I can find for M16FB1 is Crucial Ballistix 2x32GB RAM mentioned in HardForum.
Did you have the sticks in hand Tejstar?
The situation, to me, feels messy and there is something weird about it.
I think by saying its the same at virtually every university you denigrated (i learned a new word today thank you :p) virtually every other university anyway. Maybe use examples in the industry which are in the public...
