    Name this weed (please) ...

Thanks all. Indeed, one man’s weed is another man’s plant. Was mostly interested to identify it before concluding its fate … Thanks again

Low hot water pressure on one shower after mains water outage

Hi, Last night the mains water had a burst in our area and the cold was off for several hours overnight. This morning the water supplier advised us the burst had been fixed and to run the cold tap in the kitchen for 30mins to clear any air and dirt from the supply, we did this and after some...

    The nervous wait to exchange....

Completed yesterday! We started our journey over 12 months ago, sold our previous house in Feb to break the chain, stayed with relatives for a few months, two abortive purchase but finally the right place came along. We had an offer accepted on this place on April 8th, so not a bad turn around...

Spec me a washing machine and tumble dryer

Is this still genuinely the case? I’ve read that the build quality has dropped in recent years, so whilst a model built in 2000 may well still be working it doesn’t necessarily mean today’s models will work in 2041 …. also, double the price for twice the lifespan …. 6 vs half a dozen right?

Spec me a washing machine and tumble dryer

So in a little over 2 weeks we'll be moving into a new house. Our previous house had integrated appliances so we escaped the joy of having to shop for laundry appliances. A few facts; - 2 adults + 2 children (under 1 yr old at the moment) - I work from home, so Wifi start isn't essential -...

    The nervous wait to exchange....

We exchanged today with an agreed completion on 29th June. It’s been a bumpy road over the past 11 months, with one aborted sale of our property and two abortive purchases on our side due to irreconcilable issues in the legal packs, but third time lucky. Here’s to getting in and on with life again

    Stainless Steel Saucepans Recommendations

I got the 3 set of Le Creuset at Christmas and they are brilliant. Certainly worth the money. They are fast to heat up, hold their heat, the lids are a good fit, clean well and look nice. I would buy them again without hesitation. Buy once, cry once.

    Recommendations for a 4G Modem

Interesting, I've just tried this and my cellular interface still receives a private IP from the 10.0.0.0/8 range.

    Recommendations for a 4G Modem

I have been using a Cisco 819-4G-LTE alongside a wireless AP for the past 4 months. It has been very stable, acting as a DHCP server for up to 50 devices simultaneously and also NAT. I normally get around 25Mbps downstream and 8Mbps upstream. The only word of caution around using 4G for a...

"Water deficiency heat generator 1" - Vaillant fault

Thanks for the second post. I just called a local plumber who suggested checking the pressure, it was indeed 0.7 bar, with the display suggesting it should be between 0.8 - 3.0. I've just re-pressurised the system to 1.3 idle (1.7 now the boiler has kicked in for the radiators etc) and the...

"Water deficiency heat generator 1" - Vaillant fault

Actually there are conflicting responses from Googling the fault code .... hence I thought of asking on here. Get back under your bridge ...

Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Entered the world of FPV quadcopters with the Wizard X220. It's everything I thought it would be, so much fun and a great new hobby for the summer. I'm starting off learning the basics LoS and have a monitor to progress on to FPV, then will look at some goggles in the future, but it's a lot of...

How to turn off water supply to shower

Yes, a new build from 2015, but from a small developer. Aside from this dripping shower we haven't had any problems... So consider ourselves pretty lucky

How to turn off water supply to shower

No chance of the cylinder losing pressure and imploding? :)

How to turn off water supply to shower

So am I correct in thinking because I have a cylinder the hot water is supplied from that, and the boiler simply tops it up as I use it? Hot water doesn't flow directly from the boiler to the taps?

How to turn off water supply to shower

I need to remove the shower taps (not a power shower, just a mixer tap) to fix a leak, but am not sure what I need to do to turn off the hot water supply. I've got a Vailliant boiler, which controls the DHW and heating, but also a water cylinder in the airing cupboard. Any ideas what I...

    Standing desks?

I built one last year using the ikea electric legs / frame coupled with an Ikea solid wood worktop, cut to size. I spend about 3 hours per day perched on an indoboard :) Highly recommend it. I did spend about 6 months using a box on top of a standard desk just to check it wasn't a fad...
