Remove the drivers, then install the latest ones from the nvidia website, see if that helps.

    Enough power for GTX480 x2

Need ~850W for two of those. So you'll be fine. Also means you can turn your central heating off ;)

Sandy Bridge - Cold boot BSOD's

Have you tried with 1 stick of ram at a time?

did i blow up my pc?

Get a new PSU. 'Bigger' is the wrong way to think of it....those ones that come with cases are a shi**y, even if they said 2000W, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Look up how many amps your GPU needs, then get a decent make - Corsair, Thermaltake etc...

Sandy Bridge - Cold boot BSOD's

Only cold boot problems I've ever had are RAM related. Have you manually set BIOS ram settings to those the vendor specifies (esp. voltage)? Also have you run memtest? Ignore the memtest bit...I'm obviously blind.

    GPU anxiety...

It's an odd one, I'll give you that. For starters I'd recommend taking off your CPU overclock, then unplugging all system components and plugging them back in again. Were you grounded whilst fiddling?

OCCT test led to system shutdown?

Could be that your motherboard has lot of vdroop, did you up the voltage at all?

    GTX480 or GTX560Ti

I've got a 480. Performance wise, it's similar to a 570 which is obviously quite a bit higher than the 560. More cores and more memory. It is quite loud but when you play games, you've got the sound up anyway so it's never been an issue for me. Also run on a 550w PSU, no issues at all...

    Gigabit switch recommendation

Got so frustrated with interminable free routers I ended up shelling out myself. Got a Billion Bipak 7800n. One of the best IT purchases I've ever made, gigabit, wireless n, wake on lan, and a decent interface that doesn't lag for no apparent reason like most! Read some reviews.

    mixing a 470 with a 580?

Would there be any use in him getting the 580 and using the 470 for physx? Oh wait, just saw the bit about being concerned re. power usage. Ignore me.

    Hard drive problem

It may not obviously be showing in drive management at the top. But if you look at the lower pane and scroll down, it may well be in there somewhere. With any luck you can right click on it and click 'activate' (or something similar, my memory is fairly hazy...)

    Gtx 560Ti questions...

Don't worry about temperatures, those cards run cold as anything. Same goes for aftermarket cooling, it is available but a) you're unlikely to need it and b) it'll invalidate your warranty. As far as frequencies, you'll have to fiddle as every chip is different. You're probably looking at...

Best graphics card for around £200?

Worth noting that the later 480's are noticeably better in terms of heat/noise. It's not great but better....def between that and the 6950 I reckon. Overall I'd say 480 as it's got a bit more poke, is ten quid cheaper and you get a 3 year rather than 2 year warranty.

    New pc doesn't work...!

Well its either the psu, mobo or ram. Psu is decent so that's unlikely. With the mobo, you generally get some functionality so I'd take a long hard look at the ram. Also any problems installing th cpu?

Have you got a spare graphics card or onboard graphics that you could use? Friend of mine had the exact same thing and it turned out his gpu was on the way out

    USB HUB problem.

I'm confused, it works on your laptop and parents pc..where doesn't it work? The other guys are probs right, it's invariably a power issue with these things - sometimes they need two connectors but only come with one. Have a fiddle in the bios also uninstall the usb root hubs in device manager...
