you could go 2nd hand. Always an option if you want something decent sub 100 notes.
If you want something simple, robust and quite large: what about the canon G series, like the G6 or G9?
solid lens and built quality, older now of course but still pretty good.
I've tried to use MPB but never found their prices too great. However, perhaps my estimate of the value of the items was a little more than realistic.

I'm liking windows 7
I got a tangible hike in FPS whilst gaming moving from XP to windows 7
but that's also moving from xp 32bit to w7 64bit...either way, it's a worthwhile move.
hi,
my media PC has started to whine like a right whiney thing
I discovered that the ati x800 GTO AGP I put in there from another scavaged machine is running full pelt, from boot. so it's not accumulating heat although I will take it off later and see if it needs cleaning
anyway I think the...
I'm interested in how this turns out
a bit jealous?? yes, and I wouldn't spend this sort of money on a PC anyway (although a nice graphics card would be nice)
however, I'm hoping that turboduck can revive the economy with his next purchase :)
surely this forum and it's entire ethos is towards...
I had a customer a while ago that was using a workstation for 3d assembly
at the time the 4gb of ram bits and pieces wasn't as popular or a common enough problem.
as I recall we put 8 gigs of ram on the workstation and then he only had a 32bit O/S...DOH.
there is a windows startup switch...
unplug all your peripherals apart from keyboard/mouse. hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
and try again

if you really want to test out the hardware get a copy of windows PE bootable from someone and you can check on the installation and hardware

i'd go with the 450D or a 2nd hand 40D seeing as the 50D is out now.
panasonic, sony etc all make decent DSLR's now.
One thing, for battery grips on a budget you can get some great imports that are OEM but work in the same way.
Also the 1000D and the 450D may take different grips.
so if...
