Hi All, Upgraded to a more modern rig and would like to have your advise please. I am planning to put in my single 680 GTX and a Xonar Essense STX soundcard and would like to know which are the best "slots" on the mobo for them. I'm thinking that the 680GTX would go in the top PCi x16...

Have you tried running with the side of the PC case off to see if it is indeed a case cooling problem? My i7 930 @ 4 ghz runs at 32 idle and 55 under load on BF3. I run a noctua d14 cooler though. Try without the PC side panel on first before you go and buy stuff you might not need.

Still very happy with my 680. OC's very well. I never have regrets. I think the people who are regretting getting the 680 are the people who couldn't really afford the 680 to start with. I'm very lucky having high disposable income. Pointless threads, "what if's".....

+1 regarding PSU issues. I had a similar experience whilst playing games, in my case it was Zooming down my sights in BF:BC2, caused a hard lockup every time. Changed my PSU over to a better one (Corsair TX850), and all my troubles went away.

Works fine here, unpack the driver. look in C:NVIDIA>DisplayDriver>301.34>WinVista_Win7_64>International>Display.Driver ^^^This is where the inf file goes... overwrite with the other one you downloaded.. Run Setup found in C:NVIDIA>DisplayDriver>301.34>WinVista_Win7_64>International

I not too sure. If I was exploring going down the Sli road, then I would be very interested in 690. I would be spending £900 on 2 680's (or in the region of) anyway, so a single dual card which runs very cool under load, has on-par performance at stock clocks and is whisper quiet will be 3...

I noticed on a review site that it was running at 44c under full load, albeit in a open test bench , but that is some serious cooling they have managed to achieve. I think this card is great. Falls only a few fps short of a 680 sli setup, and is priced accordingly. It will be interesting...

It's a great card. Don't forget to leave feedback...... ;) AM My MSI TFII 580 OC would easily do 940/1880/2150 with 1.025v, all using AfterBurner. Temps never went beyond 65-67 degrees on BF3 (Caspian Border 64 man server). You will really enjoy that card.

For what its worth, I have a single 680 and a i7 [email protected] I am only seeing on average 70-85% GPU usage in BF3, running @1080p,Ultra settings. My old 580gtx was consistently running at 99% GPU usage. Maybe the 680/7970 drivers are not fully optimised yet. Its early days. AM

Don't use Furmark to stress. nVidia and Ati throttle back their cards on this to protect the Hardware. Best to run Heaven 3.0 benchmark on some repeating loops to check your overclock. AM
