Right.
First things first, here's the BIOS. (Anything I should change/have got wrong - let me know. But be nice about it. :P )
Lovely uninterrupted intakes!
This is why I'm not sure about the RAM cooler. (looking down the gap where the front 80mm lives, if you hadn't already guessed!)...
Cheers, I'm pretty pleased with it - but there's more I reckon! lol :) Lucked into a good chip, I think!
Using a Coolermaster Hyper 212. Stock fan for those temps, but I'll be fitting push-pull RedWings later today so we'll see what happens then :)
I think 15 hours is enough Prime for one man.
Going to have a day of tinkering tomorrow as I'm off all day. Clean, new fans, maybe up the OC a smidgin.
Simple solution - change your cooler. :D lol
Picked up 2 RedWings to go on the HSF and one for the top exhaust. I'll get that fitted tomorrow, and hopefully get the RAM cooler on, and see what happens. I've not really looked at northbridge cooling, is it worth doing?
I'll try and get some...
Well atm I have a 120 intaking from the bottom-front, an 80 intaking from the lowest two 5 1/4" bays, and 120 exhausting in the usual place.
Managed to find an old photo. That stock Lian-Li 120 at the front there is now a RedWing.
Ignore the grubby fingerprints, OK? lol
Back in now. over 6 hours of Prime now done. Highest temp on all cores was 68, which isn't bad I suppose. Hopefully picking up two 120mm Red Wings to fit to my 212 in place of the stock fan, and an 80mm RW for the top vent, later today. Never actually had a fan fitted to the top, so I'm curious...
Cheers :) Not used IBT before, I'll look into it when I get back.
Next step, I think, is to go push-pull on my 212 without increasing the overclock and see what that does for my temps. I take it using matching fans is the best idea?
Oh and I've seen people with Q6600s at 4.0, do you reckon...
OK, so here's 2 hours of prime, some gratuitous Karen Gillan.
I'm off out in a bit and will obviously leave it running.
Sorry about the size of the image. lol
Ambient temps are between 20-22. Airflow in my case is pretty good (no IDE cables messing with my airflow. lol) when I find my camera I'll show you. So a H50/ECO would be a marked improvement on my Hyper 212 then, or could you not say for certain until you've seen the inside of the system?
Can't stretch to water cooling at the moment, and never played with it anyway, which is why I was looking at the H50 et al. Need better cooling but not sure what to do now! lol
What do you reckon I should limit myself to in terms of Vcore in the BIOS? It's set to 1.475 atm I think. Am I likely to hurt the chip, or am I just limited by temps?
