    Athlon II X2 245 vs Athlon X2 7850+

Thanks for all the input everyone, I didn't realise just how good those tri cores were, but now im definately gonna go for a Athlon II X3 440. Its gonna be a huge upgrade for me as im currently using a single core Atlhon 3400+ @2.4GHz and a X1950 pro 512mb AGP :P, was good stuff back in the day...

    Athlon II X2 245 vs Athlon X2 7850+

What cooler have you got on it?

    Athlon II X2 245 vs Athlon X2 7850+

Niiiice one. I want to make it as future proof as possible, and not make the same mistake as I did last time in sticking with AGP :P

    Athlon II X2 245 vs Athlon X2 7850+

To be honest I probably would only clock it to around 3.0GHz to get it to the standard of an Athlon II X2 250. Would you advise going down the route of a tri core processor such as the Athlon II X3 440?

    Athlon II X2 245 vs Athlon X2 7850+

Ahhh thanks for the reminder on the tri cores lol, I had completely forgotten to consider them. Ive just had a look at the selection and the 440 @ 3.0GHz can be had for £2 more, well worth it. Would these tri cores be faster even though they lack that extra bit of cache?

    Athlon II X2 245 vs Athlon X2 7850+

Hi Im thinking of doing a pretty big upgrade in the next few weeks, but im undecided on which CPU set-up to go for. Im torn between the Athlon II X2 245 and the Athlon 64 X2 7850+. The motherboard ive chosen is the Gigabyte GA-MA78LM-S2, so it can take either CPU. I know the 245 is...

    Folding@home rig

Tis a bit crazy, Nvidia have been a bit mad with their rebranding of names and such. For folding the two 8800's will be better :)

Thinking of getting a new graphics card.. but which one?

The 4870 and 5770 are similar in performance terms, however the 5770 uses quite a bit less power due to its chip size. For the res you are gaming at, I think a 4850 won't quite be powerful enough (unless you can find a GDDR5 version that is twice the price generally). As mentioned aboe...

    Folding@home rig

Fair do's, if its the green edition your going for then you probably would be fine with the 850. Not sure on the wattage draw on the greens though, if its like the 5670's (bus powered) then they draw quite a lot, I was suprised considering they have no external power requirment.

    Folding@home rig

That motherboard will be fine for a folding rig, think it was recommended in custom PC before christmas. As for powering the four 9800GT's, depending on which version of the GT you are going for i'd suggest not skimping on a power supply. To run it 24/7 your gonna want something with a good...

    Crysis benchmark FPS

Very playable, take it this is at the same res too?

    Crysis benchmark FPS

Im guessing that those results are about right for an 8800GT at that res, especially as you are using the Q6600 (still one of the best quad cores around IMO)

Cool, have you been able to test your RAM? :)

    Crysis benchmark FPS

Depends what sort of hardware your using. I got similar readings to that on my AGP system (still tickin over :D) But the resolution was only at 1024*768

    RAM, Graphics Card or What?

Also have you overclocked any hardware? As for a program to monitor your temps, performance etc, for your graphics you could use GPU-Z which allows you to record you temps to a log and view them at a later date. For your CPU and other system hardware you could try everest, but it is a...

Game crash to desktop with error message

As your up to date with the latest patches/drivers, maybe try undoing any overclocks to your hardware (possible BF:BC2 doesn't like them for some reason) and see if it still does the same thing.

    RAM, Graphics Card or What?

Sounds like your're having a few problems there lol. First off, did the problem occur with the original disc graphics card drivers? How many sticks of RAM are you using, if 2 or more, try one on its own and see what happens, then continue to test each one individually.

sapphire vapor-x 5770 and old analog tv

There are adaptors available, but I doubt they will work due to all of the ouputs on that card being classed as 'digital', and s-video being 'analogue'.
