@ALXAndy Sorry, my dirt cheap mobo [Asus P5G41T-M LX G41] only has 1 PCI-E x16 slot. I'd jump at a dual card set-up otherwise, but then why bother on a Socket 775, better to go i5-something, but then a cheap school project suddenly gets to be a £3-400 major upgrade!
I certainly won't be throwing 100's at it, but thanks for the warning.
I reckon the 2GB 6850 looks favourite for now. I'll take a look and see if there's any going cheap in the forum before trying to convince the missus I really NEED to spend £149 this close to Christmas!
We're closing our...
Thanks for the input guys, looking at the numbers and the spec of my current screens I may have to think again, maybe smuggle a couple more 1440x900 screens home!
ok, I may have found the answer myself...
Ati "Eyefinity" seems to support 3 (or more) displays from 1 slot
Anyone had experience (good or bad) with Eyefinity?
Long time since I posted here so please be gentle ;)
Gotta build a cheap PC with my son for a Yr4 school project, so I thought it'd be an ideal time to upgrade my graphics card :D
Current card is a 4850 iirc, motherboard is a 755 with single pci-e x16, 8gb ddr3 and a Core2 Quad 9400 and a...

and simply renamed the key to \DosDevices\A:
this worked perfectly in explorer, but the specific software I mentioned previously fails to write to the disk complaining it may be full or...
Hiya - not posted here for years so tell me to s*d off if you like!
I have a piece of software that requires an A: drive to save to.
I would 'like' to use a USB stick to do this (speed/reliability over FDD)
I can find lots of guides on making a USB stick bootable, but NOT on making a USB...
I know I ain't posted on ere for months maybe years, and I've pretty much stopped crunching anything full stop, but didn't I read somewhere that supplying the sparks to run millions of CPUs at full pelt is a major contributor to greenhouse gases, so if we stop searching for signals our 12 years...
added my name - I miss the old days :(
I've even stopped running BOINC-Seti as the woo's are so large on a 512mb or 1gb with HT machine its unbearable when you're trying to do proper work too!
OK guys'n'gals - I have been cleared a small budget to replace my 19" Tiny (euch) CRT with a 19" TFT
And it is a small budget ~£150+VAT
So my quandry is, should I order the AL1916S for work, or bring my VP191s in from home and get the AL1916W for home.
My thinking is, the widescreen at...
