Using Virgins own speed test. No Asus software installed. I am using a wired connection from a socket near the router wired to another socket in my office and connected by ethernet cable.

Just had virgin 500Mb fibre installed and getting great speeds to the router and 1 laptop via wi-fi. My desktop is hard wired to the router and only gets 80Mb + my wife's win 10 laptop only gets 55Mb via wi-fi? Is there a way to improve this? Would a USB Dongle wi-fi connection be better...

Thank you for your replies. The file types are labelled S#! file. I believe I used TrueCrypt to encrypt them. Unfortunately I have had a bad head injury since the encryption so can't remember password etc. Can you recommend software for the brute force the password approach please?
