The problem discussed in this thread is not really about graphics cards but about pricing in general - things are more expensive in EU and it has nothing to do with transport or distribution. It is politics, or rather 'pricing strategies' or 'pricing policies' - whatever you call them...
It is not true. I am in Poland now and I have just bought Gigabyte Radeon HD 7850 from one of Polish e-tailers for an equivalent of 205 British Pounds (and this included next day courier delivery and currency conversion rates).
I owned XFX 6870 with dual fan cooling (Black Edition) and it was whisper quiet, even under moderate load. These 'Black Edition' models seem to be hard to find these days though...
I just bought WD Velociraptor 600GB from a well-known etailer for 179 pounds which I believe is roughly the same price it was selling for before this whole disaster. Funnily, they also had 640GB Black Caviars in stock and they were 215 pounds!
A few words of advice from a fellow music producer:
1. Forget AMD CPUs In music production Intel CPUs are much more efficient at low latencies (with ASIO buffers @ 128 samples and below). A quad-core i5 760 should give you a better performance than a six core Phenom. (In the realms of DAWs...
I had issues with both Radeon 4770 and 5750 on an Asus M3A78Pro mobo (AMD 780 chipset). After installing Athlon II X4 630 CPU none of them would work properly (blue screeen crashes all the time). I tried various drivers, clean install of OS, changing mobo BIOS, etc. Hopeless...
Finally, I just...
Hi guys
I'm having problems with my ASUS EAH4770 Forumula card.
Yesterday I replaced the cpu in my PC (a brand new ATHLON II X4 630). I also updated the mobo's bios to the latest version and the problems began...I did a clean installation of Win XP and when I tried to install video...
Although this Project Headbox does have RCA outputs (quite unusual for a headphone amp) I would not use it in the configuration that you described. It's a bit...unnatural ;)
This is taken from the Headbox manual:
Connect the TAPE OUT/RCA phono sockets from your amplifier to the In/RCA...
I think you need a different setup:
- soundcard --> amplifier
- a pair of line outs (tape outs) from your Nad to the headphone amp
You cannot connect it other way round (a headphone amp has only a headphone output).
But to be honest, I do not think you'll hear much of a difference...
What's strange in my comment? ALL headphones need amplified signal. The problem is that some amplifiers (like those built in mp3 players) might just not have enough power to drive certain types.
[Surprisingly, my old mp3 player (Sandisk Sansa e260) is able to drive DT880 pros without problems]
