Thank you all so much! Still probably the best forum on the interweb :)
- Didn't realise one of the power cables literally splits in half... Wasn't at all obvious to my untrained eye(!) So added that for the missing power.
- I did indeed have the Memory in the wrong slots. I had put them in A1...
Hello lovely people!
I'm hoping someone can help.
I built a new rig from scratch - figured I'd be ok as built & upgraded my old one, but it's been a decade or so lol.
For some reason I've got case & CPU fans going, but no GPU power & no BIOS. Also no light on the keyboard or mouse so guessing...
I recently played Snow Tails which was better than I expected. It was 5 players and we all grasp the slightly strange movement rules really quickly and shot around the race course. Love the feeling when you finally get moving fast, only to find you're going to smash a wall as you hit a corner :D...
All installed and running :) Coming from a 7870 it's blowing my mind! haha
Popped into a few games and runs everything on max (1080p) without trying. Haven't run any tests or anything yet but don't think I'll bother. Happy camper here :P
I want to play GTA V which I've had a while but haven't installed yet. Figured I'd wait til I can do something nifty with the graphics rather than turn it all down lol.
Nothing else baught yet, however I'm looking at No Man's Sky, Civ6, BF1 and Dishonored 2.
Gonna be a great 2016 for games...
My 7870 appears to be on it's last legs now, all sorts of little graphical glitches and flickering even on desktop, and running at stock. Hope it holds out til the 480 comes else I'll have to resort to on-board (noooooooooooo!)
So I'm really wanting to make the most of this when eventually it comes :)
Considering dropping the cash on a new 24" 1080p 144Hz Freesync. I'm currently on an older 23" 1080p 75Hz.
Looks like I can do it for about £200, but seems a lot of additional money! Would it be worth it do you think...
It was certainly one of the main selling points for me. I've never been comfortable with pushing OC's, I just do a gentle nudge here or there. So to have it already in place is great :D
I have to admit I've been considering cancelling my pre-order to go with a 1060. I've looked at some comparisons and looks like it could be better for my needs (@1080p), but I've always had AMD so a little hesitant to switch and not sure if it would be worth the extra £50.
Sticking to my guns...
How is reliability these days?
It must be a concern if purchasing a large capacity SSD, as that would usually indicate it's for storage.
I've had an SSD fail me in the recent past and so has a friend, but I've never experienced an HDD problem in many years of use.
I've always called is ah-suss (short 'a' as in "bat").
Probably a tomarto tomayto thing I guess...
I don't trust the American pronounciation of Pegasus lol, they say min-otor rather than mine-otoar :O
My Win7 disk is before SP1.
Should I install and update to SP1. Then Download KB3020369 & KB3125574 (save) then disconnect & install them and continue from there?
I was trying this yesterday following a fresh Win7 re-install (& successfully added SP1) but no joy in working yet. Will probably leave it going over the weekend.
I had no idea of these issues when I decided to re-install. Wish I hadn't bothered now!
