I currently have 1 ASUS EAH6970, I was always planning to get a second and go crossfire once I had the cash to do so. Though now I have came to I can only find the 3 slot DCII version.
Should I go for the DCII version or get a different manufacture reference card?
Also why has the card i...
Well i just had a screwdriver slip which has destroyed my board.
I run 2x 6970 so the spacing on the PCI 16 lanes is key to avoid heat problems.
The current 2600k was running at a stable 4.7GHz but i may have a better chip lined up to break the 5GHz limit.
Price is not an issue as key is...
I rang UPS Monday morning at 9am, they were at my place of work to collect for 11am. I received my replacement board yesterday (Thursday) at around mid day.
A day longer then i was hoping but back before the long weekend so im happy.
I stuck my old overclock settings right in and fired it up...
Thanks, I'm trying. I have tried the card in another rig, granted similar but BSOD right off the bat non the less. I'm adamant the card is faulty but when its tested for RMA and returned I'm just at a loss.
I'm hesitating to send it back to MSI as from what i hear it could take months and...
Was x8 but no the card is the same issue on its own, BSOD on boots, i can get into windows by keep trying and it seems fine, will play games and everything just random BSOD evrey now and then while playing, idle or playing realy basic games (Diablo 2 LOL) and then its the BSOD booting all over.
I picked up a MSI 5850 Twin FrozeR II in Jan to go in CF with my ASUS 5850 and right away started with problems taking 2-3 attempts to boot into windows.
After messing around with drivers for awhile I finally formatted my OS and installed a fresh copy of 7 64bit with no change.
So next stop...
i had a simlar issue with my HAF X sounding simlar.. it turns out it was the 200mm side fan, with it off its silent until i lean the side pannel down with the outside edge closest to the ground then it starts to vibrate the entire pannel, reguardless of fan speed it always seems to make the same...
I would like to add more of a red light to the case, not to much but enough to add a back light to the CPU and crossfire 5850.

Guys i think im sold, i currently have the ASUS voltage unlocked 5850 for teh overclocking, so im thinking of taking a MSI ATI Radeon HD 5850 Twin FrozR for the top slot (less clearence so better cooling would be a good idear). is this the best card to go with or should i choose another.

Aalso set mine to 930/1200 at 1.190v and ran a 8 hour bench tonight with no issues.
Will prob try push some more. seems the next level of AA is now reachable without any loss in FPS. for me thats high enougth just a little more should ensure smooth play, maybe I will hold off on upgrading..
The 5850 is voltage unlocked so I have had it over clocked but its not currently (mainly because I was getting crashes and haven't had time to).
Performance with a few games with some high AA/vsync is sluggish at best, gaming I use 1920 x 1200 but I do also have a second screen at this...
I currently have a single asus 5850 card, do I get a second or upgrade to a new series.
Got around £200 budget, spec my an upgrade.
I can run Xfire at 8x with my current mobo, but I know this will only have a slight bottle neck but something to keep in mind.
