the log file is spot on as you can see the gradual increase in temps to 60/61/62 max and the corresponding fan profile you have set to 50% for that temp..the gpu clock speed is also kicking in for 2d to 3d once you start and stop heaven I would be happy with that log as it is showing you...

I have installed a fresh windows 7 and CCC but everytime I got to performance and accept the terms it just disappears then appears again,It is the same on my kids pc which I also done a full re install of windows 7 as he got my q6600 from my upgrade.Both latest versions of CCC

To be honest it does not sound right that you only have two options of auto and x2 and if you only have auto and x2 your memory is going to limit your overclock. What I would do is vcore at 1.4 then work your way up 335,340,345,350 etc untill the memory stops the overclock, maybe up the memory...

When you goto the system memory multiplier you say you have no options to change it, no auto etc. When you have the multiplier highlighted hit the + or - on your keyboard this goes through the options on my board.. If you can sort the memory out stick the voltage at 1.4v the q6600 can handle...

Its only the cpu I am getting,do you think the lack of power etc would damage the cpu in any way

It was on a 1155 motherboard in a Shuttle XH61, I should have said it supports a max 65tdp cpu and again I am not sure why it would only support the 65, maybe something to do with the way it is powered :confused:

I have the chance to purchase a 2nd hand i5 2500k for a good price. The discription of the cpu is that it had been running on a 65 TDP rated motherboard with no apparant problems. My question is, could there be possible cpu damage running on a lower rated board :cool:

Reset back to stock and stock voltage and the 4 cores are now back, temps are fine when OC. I am back at 3.2 and so far 4 cores have remained. I will keep an eye on it ;)

My q6600 is showing only 3 cores in cpu-z, I only noticed this after I used Fritz chess benchmark and it only gave the me the option to select 3 cores, also msconfig/advanced settings has me in there as max 3 cores. Is my cpu on the road out,is it possible to have a failed core and it keeps...
