    LG G4 Boot loop anyone?

the failure rate of G4's over a 2 year period is insane. Don't worry too much about it, it's a miracle the phone lasted as long as it did to be honest. Nice handset, shame about the manufacturer. You made the right decision imo, it's a very large reason for LG's failure to turn their handset...

    Car Viewing

I drove one of these for 6 years / 120k. 2009/2010 is the changeover year of the facelift, post-facelists have better interiors (old and facelift) and better engines I think (CEGA will be the engine code if it's the newer/better of the 2 engines iirc) and more importantly - softer suspension...

broken s7 edge screen..any benefit of s8 over an s7

The benefits to the all screen setup are nice for certain applications but if your handset has been treasured and this is the only thing that's gone wrong then maybe a new screen might be a better (better the devil you know?) while you're at it you might want to consider a replacement oem...

    Mobile Broadband WiFi Units

You typically have a SIM-O data only SIM on either a 30day or 12month deal with these types of devices and within this contact will be how much you owe if you go over (or if you go with a network that allows capping, you can just block the ability to go over). Huawei make the best H/W from my...

Anyone with Android and EE using Wi-Fi calling?

This is true and always struck me as one of the more bizarre choices of VF-UK. VoLTE is working on a number of other handsets currently. If you have diagnostics enabled on your phone you can see this on some more recent handsets (tariff dependant, more common on business tariffs) but it's not...

Anyone with Android and EE using Wi-Fi calling?

Broken Hopes right I know both of these systems inside out by design and you've spotted their largest difference - priority. Wi-Fi calling is truly awful if you're a network engineer. You can't control the network, wifi in general is rubbish and consumer broadband is unreliable. If you use...

How to stop automatic photo harvesting?

Whats the phone / App version? Samsung Gallery is a system app so you could roll it back to the first installed instance, maybe that doesn't have the behaviour? I updated the gallery on my S7 tester (through galaxy apps) just to check and I can't see this tagging when I'm not synced to the...

    Poor signal on giff gaff

While i appreciate giffgaff are cheap, they are not so great from a technical point of view (in my complete, solo opinion). Their agreement last time i checked with O2 is for over-capacity only with low minimum guaranteed access. Imagine a pipe from O2 to the internet. it can go from 0 to...

    BMW Warranty

While a slightly older car, I've had an E89 Z4 35i under warranty from the day i got it and the extended has been ~£350yr comp with 100 excess (no recovery) and has paid for 1 muffler / exhaust bit (cost of the part and fitting on this one was over a grand), 1/2 price of a boot seal (not covered...

    Data recovery companies

No clue how Android 6+ encryption works with this type of stuff but hope it goes OK. Checked dropbox/gPhotos/samsung backup? The big name in town is Kroll who will charge the most I suspect but have the rep for it. Get a quote first. Turbo edit - Kroll will do the repair too i suspect.

    Three Feel at Home

Three feel at home works best in countries where three has a presence (then it's virtually un-restricted) then after that it varies from average to awful. They have separate agreements with other roaming operators and from what we can guess (work at a competitor) these range from highly locked...

    Chargers and battery care/life

The S8 is an under-charged cell, a 3200 being capped at 3000 IIRC, which is how it's keeping its charge so well. They didn't want another day in the public eye regarding cells catching fire. Rapid charge does have thermal management on all phones (it wouldn't pass network testing without it)...

    Samsung SM-W2017

It will work at a base level but not fantastically. It's missing 4G, the 3G bands it does that match in the UK (only the 2100 on Voda) are currently being re-farmed - Networks are putting 4G signal on 2100 band for better traffic management, 3G@2100 is occupying a smaller amount of the block...

New car, Octavia VRS estate or Leon Cupra ST 300, or something else?

Be aware that Cupra's are mega delayed right now. I ordered one in July and delivery is Feb/March, you can see many more cases of this on the pistonheads Seat/audi forum unfortunately.

O2 killing off TU Go app!

Anyone know the real reason? Fraud / hacked off with people using it to dodge roaming / ongoing costs of the app? It was a good differentiator as wonko said - bit odd for them to drop it.

    Do signal boosters work/worth it?

You have to register handsets onto it, your neighbour wont be able to use your connection without your prior setup. You wont even be able to see it exists unless you have something that can detect 2100mhz, it broadcasts a 3G signal so only your phones can see it and the handset wont even know...

Three UK Wifi Calling Help and Advice

In theory just flashing a Three based ROM over the existing one would do the trick but the Wi-Fi calling system used by networks is authenticated on both sides so it might also require the Three platform to have you registered in their system for it to work. I'd check out XDA to see if anyone...

Android 7.0 - cast and network functions

Google guidelines changed and it's now commonly in the share menu for a given app but even then, it would require a DLNA server app to send (some manufacturers have inbuilt support from their gallery / file app but it's not ubiquitous). Bubbleupnp would sort you out I think.

**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

No need to close background apps, it's like windows 10 in that apps in memory cost nothing but opportunity that you might load them up again and if they are loaded in memory then they will load faster. If you need to load something out of memory then cycling the ram and clearing out an old app...
