@KW Perhaps Nvidia has partially fixed this issue as I read that it idles at >90c with a second monitor. Apparently the problem is when you down-clock the card any further you get screen flickering.

Did they not get taken over by AMD though? I'm sure if the 2900 episode hadn't occurred AMD would have been able to buy them out... I know Intel would probably like to get hold of some Nvidia pie, but I don't think they will be allowed to buy Nvidia due to anti-monopoly law.

So by extension are you saying GTX480 can only render normal tessellation or a small number of objects?
