    Issue with Dell Laptop Repair

Hi mate, As been stated above, this is more an issue of the legality of having an unlicensed version of Windows on my laptop thanks to the Dell engineer taking my COA.

    Issue with Dell Laptop Repair

Thanks mate, I will be keeping on Dells case for sure. If it was some rubbish like Windows Vista I wouldn't be so peeved but this is Windows 7 Ultimate and was fully licensed. They keep saying that until I know who the original owner is, they won't offer any support, despite the fact that I keep...

    Issue with Dell Laptop Repair

Whether the laptop needs the Dell COA to install Windows is really irrelevant because Microsoft states that the license is not valid unless the COA is attached to the computer and therefore installing Windows on this laptop without that COA will be illegal. I'll have a look into contacting the...

    Issue with Dell Laptop Repair

I'm having to chase Dell daily to try and resolve this. They emailed me on Friday saying they were having system issues. They were apparently still having these issues yesterday and I emailed them today and they're still waiting for a response from the original owner. I have now emailed them...

    Issue with Dell Laptop Repair

Just had an email from Dell saying they are waiting for a call back from the original owner. They are going to phone them again this morning too. Will see what happens.

    Hidden files worth 140GB

Thanks, will give it a try. I'm just worried it might've been some files locked in the 'Users' folder that I've now lost

    Issue with Dell Laptop Repair

Thanks for the advice guys. I will continue to pursue this with Dell and have made them well aware that I won't give up and if they don't get it sorted, my next course of action would be the Small Claims Court. I have also suggested (and Dell agreed) that they contact the original owner to...

    Issue with Dell Laptop Repair

Yeah, I bought a new hard drive to put in it, took the old one out, attached it to my pc, formatted it and stuck the new one in the laptop.

    Issue with Dell Laptop Repair

Keyfinder won't work unfortunately. It comes back saying it cannot find a valid Windows product key. I wonder if this is due to it being a Dell OEM installation because they're activated by the BIOS, not by Microsofts servers.

    Issue with Dell Laptop Repair

Thanks, that's pretty much what I was thinking/hoping. They keep trying to fob me off saying that because they have sent me a blank COA (literally a blank sticker with a Dell logo, a space to write the version of Windows, then spaces to write the product key), they have done their bit and...

    Issue with Dell Laptop Repair

I bought a Dell business laptop second hand a couple of months ago and, though it wasn't advertised as such, it has 2 years remaining of the Dell Next Business Day Warranty. A few days after receiving the laptop, the touchpad started to play up so I contacted Dell via email to request a repair...

    Hidden files worth 140GB

I've got a 1TB Samsung F3 that I have been using as a backup drive but decided to copy everything across to a smaller drive. The drive also at one point was used for the 'users' folders on a Windows 7 machine. I put the drive in my current pc and cut and pasted everything from the drive to the...

What is your work PC like?

The place I used to work was miles behind everyone (I left there last year and they were still on Pentium 4's with 2GB Ram and 80GB Hard Drives). Some of the machines actually still had CDRW's in and not DVD rom or DVD Writers. Where I am now, I've got a Core 2 Quad 2.66GHz with 8GB Ram...

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Have got my Microserver running with FreeNAS but think it may be overkill for me. Ideally I wanted to run Windows Server 2008 R2 off a pen drive but couldn't get it working properly so may end up selling it and sticking with my NAS. Anyone want to try convincing me to keep it? Lol

Is that for o2 contracts only? The mrs has an iPhone 4 on three and doesn't have that feature.

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Just managed to get Windows Server 2008 R2 installed into a USB pen but it seems incredibly slow. Is there anything I can do to try and speed it up?

Should I buy an iPhone 4?

I agree completely. Android phones seem to boast about specs and people fall for it, whereas the iphone and other iOS devices are about the user experience and amazing OS. As I said earlier, my Samsung Galaxy that I had was sluggish with the animations and like Mattus said, the icons were...

Why have and iMac when you can........

But to be honest, if you wanted a Matte screen, the iMac would never even cross your mind, but yeah, you wouldn't have much of an option (Mini, MBP or Pro).
