    Northbridge getting too hot?

Hi there im pretty new to overclocking and the such like but regardless ive done pretty well with my (now) secondary rig which i use as a HTPC. Just recently (yesterday) it started throwing up random BSOD, freezing and rebooting on its own. I have known for some time that the northbridge was...

    Cheap card with hdmi?

Hi there im looking to buy an ultra cheap (£40ish max if possible) card to run movies at full HD on a 47inch LED TV. There is currently no card in the rig and i use the onboard. I have no intention of playing games whatsoever, just movies. Full HD movies run great on my 22 inch monitor through...

Can my PSU handle 2 5870's?

    Spec me a HTPC PC

Agree with the above....if your lady is particularly anti-noise, you could even use the remains of your budget (you said 600 max right?) to get yourself a Corsair H50, at 62 quid its not too much more expensive than some HSF coolers. Personally id pay 62 of my hard earned british sterling any...

    Urgent problem with gf's PC.

If the drivers werent present it would still show up in DM, OP says he cant find it in Network Connections or DM. Have you tried the Network Setup Wizard to create another connection for your broadband? Run command prompt and type "ipconfig /all" which will show if your network adapter has an...

    Urgent problem with gf's PC.

If you cant find it in the BIOS, there should be an option somewhere to the effect of "Load Default Settings" or "Load Optimized Settings" in which the BIOS will be set to default....The way is is when brand new, using a setting like this would automatically enable the use of the Ethernet port...

    Urgent problem with gf's PC.

Is the Ethernet port onboard? If not turn off, remove it, boot back up, turn off, put it back in but use a different pci slot. Look carefully in Device Manager, instead of looking under "Network Adapters", look in "Other Devices" you may find it with a weird name or named "Unknown Device" and a...

    Spec me a HTPC PC

How about one of these? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-249-OK Perfect for your needs, for HTPC you dont need anywhere close to the spec required for elite gaming....something like this fits the bill perfectly.

    Cheap PC

if building a budget one at that price you may be better off buying a x3 (3 core) and using that extra funding to fund higher spec ram...or more, if you get the right x3+mobo theres a chance you can unlock to 4 cores anyway. for the money your wanting to spend id go mm or even ebay.

    Bug crawling around inside screen

Happens to me every summer, just open up the monitor and get them out. They get stuck between the outer plastic flexi and the actual tft pannel. I repair monitors and tv's and i see this a LOT. Infact ive bought "faulty" monitors from ebay that i fix up and sell on. The sellers sell them cheap...

    Help choosing video card....?

Hi there im looking to buy a budget video card to retire my onboard graphics. Im NOT much of a gamer, but i do like my video editing and image rendering quite a lot. Also use the rig as a HTPC so HD support for viewing and editing is a must. Support for more than 1 monitor is also a must. Having...

What are the advantages of buying a branded PSU over a generic one ?

Ive been using a 600w PSU ive owned since about 2005, made by a company called JSP which ive not heard much of. Back then i paid £95, probably pick one up for a tenner today, never let me down once, even when more expensive components with names like Asus, Crucial, Western Digital were falling...

    Water cooled - sealed ?

No i meant spill into your rig if it was open topped....but i see what you meant, Isnt the stuff that goes into the water the same stuff that goes into car radiators? If so i think it likely that if engine temperatures dont blow under hundreds/thousands of degrees C, your CPU cooling system will...

I do like a bit of video editing and whatnot but its more the challenge im doing it for, could you possibly suggest to me one or two slightly-higher-than-budget boards that would be more up to the job? Obviuosly capable of unleashing the other two cores also?

    Phenom FX-5000 Quad-Unlock OC'ing

Hi have tried lower multiplier and higher bus speed via the AsrockOC software and the system locks up. Currently i got 2813Mhz with 11.0 x 256. Will my voltages make any difference? ie. Chipset voltage or DRAM? and should the memory be downclocked any further than it currently is? Thanks again.
