1000w PSU + 8800 problems

myself and a few friends have been having problems using 1000w power supplies.

We all have 8800 GTS / GTX, and previously had 550W power units, which worked fine. We all upgraded to 1000W power supplies, I had an Antec Qautro 1000W, my friend had a northQ 1000W.

Now we are both getting the same problem where the card runs very slow, and sometimes get a power message in windows. Switching back to the 550W PSU fixes the problem.

Now the power supply works fine in other systems. Is there a known problem with 1000W units and 8800 cards?

Maybe the 12v rails are too low? I take it they both have 4 12v rails versus 2 12v rails on your older PSU's?

Why the **** did you upgrade to 1000W when you already had working 550W's?

What's the power message your getting?

Why oh why did you change your power supply in the first place?

Did you actually connect the power connector's to the card's?

I wonder if they accidently connected the motherboard 8-pin to the graphics card (if 8800's have 8 pin connectors?)
