Yeah, Grub should give you the choice of which kernel to boot when you next reboot.

Ok, now i've decided I don't need the 386 kernel, but will keep as a backup. I want to stop the 386 kernel from updating, how do I do this?
I was told on Ubuntu forums that I need to unmark it in package manager, but it won't let me do it.
