This would almost make the 3070 pointless? Nvidia must know something about the AMD GPU to go right for the Ti model at launch?

3080 stock issues.
3080 can't seem to overclock.
3090 costs twice as much for barely any return. (Titan sold as a gaming card...?)
3070 to be immediately undercut by an early 3060Ti.

Nah, it's very typical from Nvidia. They will blanket every price range with a card, usually in descending order. Since this is a cut down 3070 then it makes sense it will arrive shortly after the 3070.

Hmmm it will be interesting to see the actually performance different between the 3070 and 3060Ti.
I have no doubt the 3070 will be faster, but it depends on the margin and how much less the 3060Ti will cost.

'IF' the 3060Ti overclocks well it could be a no-brainer at the price level.

There will be 16Gb option for the 3070 though (at some point).

Almost certainly 3060ti is a response to something AMD are launching, which supposedly is a 8 or 12gb gpu about 10% below 2080ti priced around $400.
3060ti will probably be slightly better or worse at the same price and its rumoured to launch end of october.
