Well, there's the M61 Vulcan, which is less powerful and used as an AA weapon. The GAU-8 would probably be too big to mount on a tank, and it can't sustain fire for more than a few seconds without overheating. Besides, there wouldn't be much point, as the 120mm cannons used on modern tanks are far more accurate at range and can finish off most tanks in one or two direct hits within 800 metres. The main reason for the GAU-8 having such a high rate of fire is because fixed gun on an aircraft doesn't have the accuracy an MBT's main gun has.PinkFloyd said:Cool video
