Hi chaps, I'm after a pokey 2-door that doesn't kill the insurance. Got a relatively flexible £5k budget. It needs: -To be fast and fun -Not look like fiesta -be 2-door -Not be horrendous on insurance (group 16 a nono) -Have a nice interior -Be relatively new / relatively low mileage That's about it! Cheers, Ant
Clio 182? although the interior won't be all that amazing do you want a 2 door coupe/convertible or a 3 door hatch? not sure if you can get new and low mileage for £5k.. E36.. http://pistonheads.com/sales/1243669.htm
From what I can gather, it's an excellent, fun to drive car. I just can't get on with the size, shape and general aesthetic of the car Ant
I'm not a fan of either, but even I have to admit you're not going to get much better than a Clio 172/182 or an MX5 for the budget.
We need some context. What do you consider fast? There are not many actually fast cars below group 16, but fast is relative. Do you actually mean 2 door ie a coupe or do you want a 3 door hatch?
Focus ST170 is claimed IG15 but I know from experience they're hard to insure. Might be worth running some quotes? Civic Type-S is 160bhp but IG11? - this would mean 5 doors though.
I can't remember now - it wasn't Sky it was some small comapny through a broker and yeah its not exactly Kensington round here
why waste your money messing about with a remap when you can get a seat leon with 180bhp out of the box? if the OP's after a hatch, then a Leon Cupra would be perfect. 5 doors over 3 doesn't have any drawbacks in a hatch, it's usually the other way round
Cupra would be IG16+ no? Admittedly i'm always in favour of phoning rather than assuming it'd be too much to insure, but I don't believe a Cupra fits the criteria.
You can get the golf 180bhp out the box? I meant to remap this engine. It's the same VAG engine, infact, it's pretty much the same car all round.
yes it is essentially same car and the same engine, but you cannot get a golf IV with 180bhp the most powerful ones are either a 150bhp GTI (lol), or the v6 4 motion with 204 having looked, the cupra is IG16, but as i don't live in the UK i didn't know. although apparently IG isn't *that* much of a factor? no harm in trying a quote anyway
http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/summary.aspx?model=1031 I beg to differ. You can get the 180 on the IV golf.
well fancy that. turns out it was a special Anniversary edition.. either way, you'll be hard pressed to find one worth owning for £5k. the leon is much better value for money
