6800XT/6900XT - AMD Only, Tier 1 Card Chat - PCB/Clocks/Powerlimit/Benches

Unfortunately the RDNA2 thread had to close so i will start a thread (AMD only chat please) about the tier 1 cards from the RDNA2 generation and only the Tier 1 cards designated in this thread. This is not an owners thread, its just a place to keep general announcements, reviews and chat specific to the Tier 1 cards only.

At the time of writing this is 4 cards only and you can realistically only buy two of them.

These top tier cards as designated as follows, some are known some are currently 'TBA', the card is not in this list, it is not a Tier 1 card and is not intended for chat in this thread. If you have a non-Tier 1 card please post in the general owners thread lovingly curated by Kaapstaaaaad.

I will update this list as cards are confirmed.

I am sure something is wrong with that result but it is funny. 3000 points ahead of LN2 3090s.

MERC 319

is not under consideration as good, big navi card. Is Merc 319 better than Powercolor 6900XT Red Devil?

The PCB is not better on the Merc but whether it is a better overall card for the money is up in the air tbh

It depends on the luck of the silicon, I have a red devil that was the fastest on the firestrike extreme bench in here, but then @djay bought a merc and absolutely destroyed my score

Yep Red Devil has the better PCB, but silicon quality is key on AIB models mostly. Merc has 14 phases, other than that same as the MBA afaik. The best thing about the Merc is the cooler, which looks to be the best or one of the best air coolers available.

How come you are selling your Merc @djay ?

Just to echo LtMatt, the cooler on the Merc is superb. I never saw the junction temp go over 82c when I was going for the top score on the Firestrike Benchmark.

I have beaten your Timespy Extreme score but I can't get near your Firestrike Extreme, though i did improve my score over what was posted.

Because the benchmark you posted is 2 6900XT in crossfire , while the 3090 benchmark he compared to are single cards - if you compare sli 3090 then it's a different story since 3090 does 24k points, well ahead of the 16k 6900xt crossfire https://www.3dmark.com/spy/17528934

I don't know how he managed to glitch his benchmark into the single card list but if you open the benchmark it clears shows it's crossfire - 3D mark has removed that score from the single card list and put it in the 2 card list
