Hi guys, just done a 7v mod on a 3 pin to 4 pin molex adapter, can you confirm this is correct before i power up? I'm not convinced it is!

damn, can't get a decent shot of it :|

To explain the layout, its Molex 1 (connects direct to PSU) ---- Molex 2 (extender, daisy chain molex) and off of molex 1 is 3 pin fan adapter.

    SO,

    Molex 1 (to psu) is

    black (+black fan wire)
    black
    Red
    Yellow

Connects straight to Molex 2, which is

    Red
Black (wire which at one end has fan black wire, but not this end)
    black
    yellow

I know that's a head screw, but does anyone get what I mean? I've looked at numerous sites, but some have the red completely moved (at both ends) some don't. I don't wanna blow the psu!

I'll get a picture of mine now mate.

I've just done one and it's working. :)

P.S- Do you have one of those Y adaptor things?

EDIT: Here's the guide I followed. Link

If you get stuck with that give me a shout and I'll get a photo of mine. :)

Awesome mate, cheers! Its not a Y adapter as such, its a 3 pin to 4 pin adapter with the usual extra 4 pin attached too to let you daisy chain devices.

Just got a photo of it. Sorry about the quality. (Phone pic)

That's how I've done it. The one with the Molex>3pin is the 7V one and the other one is the 5V one. :)

cheers! So the one to the upper right is the 7v?

It looks like an unchanged molex though? yellow + fan cable at top, then black and fan cable directly below. Isn't that unchanged?

Just labeled the diagram for you. The bit with the red boxy-thing round it is the thing that changes the 3pin fan adapter to the molex one.

    • Fan connector.
    • 7V Molex.
    • 5V Molex

    :)

I just put a small screw driver in the hole and pushed the little pin things flush with the rest of the metal connector.

A light helps quite a bit.
