A Few Projector Questions

That is a good point actually - it would suck to put down a load of money and find you notice annoying rainbow or screen door effects... unfortunatly its pretty hard to find places that will demo projectors a few specialists will but only if they know your serious about buying.

16ft from screen to 108" ( For scale, the tv is 48" )

Keep in mind that most AVR's have multi hdmi in but only 1 x hdmi out. This means that you can swap you input around no problem, but not switch where the output goes. (They probably offer component out if you are happy to do this)

There are AVR's that have multi hdmi out, so make sure you pick the right one and avoid the mistake i made when i bought my AVR1909!

There are cheap ways round this using a seperate HDMI Switcher but dont confuse this with HDMI Splitters.

Very nice setup, Toekiller. My overall budget as mentioned is around £1.5k - £2k.

MatthewNCB, I'm not really sure what I'm going to do in regards to the AVR. I definitely plan on getting one but I was thinking of possibly splitting the HDMI from the Sky HD box and sending one into the AVR and one into the 32" Sony.

It would mean that the AVR isn't on when it's not being used/appreciated (i.e I don't really need surround sound for watching Come Dine With Me).

Nice budget. Can you wait a while as October / November is when all the new pj's are announced. If I was looking now with your budget, it would be at Sony, Sanyo and panasonic and a 1080p. You can make your own screen for peanuts.

His budget is also to include a receiver and speakers. So some of those projectors wouldn't leave much for these.

I would highly recommend looking at the projector i have recently bought which is the Epson TW-3000, or if it is too much the TW-2800 which is slightly cheaper.
