I'm encoding a large video from FRAPS files (4GB each per two minutes), but on my i7 with hyperthreading enabled each core is fluctuating from 20% to 60%. Why is it not running at 100%? Is it because of a lack of memory (I have 6GB) or is the HDD bottlenecking it?

    Thanks for answers.

I have often wondered about this too (I use megui - I find I hit 60% on my first pass but 100% on the second pass). Dont think it can be the hdd because encoding takes far longer than just copying the file from one hdd to another (this might not be the best way to think about it though...)

I've just noticed on the second pass it does go up but not over 80, usually between 50 and 80.
