So you cancel the policy, get a partial refund, then take out a new one elsewhere. It's not that big a deal.

Thats fine if you have loads of no claims, but if you are in a stage (like myself) where you are trying to build them up (I'm trying to hit eligibility to protect mine) then thats a big blow if you're a fair way into the policy.

Do you loose much more overall than if you'd just gone with a more reputable and more costly insurance company to begin with?

Don't see the issue. Sure would be nice for the rare occasion you might fall foul but at the end of the day, it's not exactly a huge deal breaker.
Flux saved me £500 over every other insurer at the time, I effectively got a "year free" with the savings and would still be on-top if I cancelled and lost the NCB.

Admiral were actually the cheapest for me. about £600, next best I could find was £800, a few over £1000 and most over £2000.

Flux are consistently a LOT cheaper than most other insurers for modified classics. I've not had to claim yet, but I have heard all the horror stories.
I might just take the £ hit next time and go with someone I can trust.

A.Flux did this to me and I thought nothing ill of it.
I changed my car and the current insurer couldn't 'do' the new vehicle for a competitive price, hence they found a different company, therefore a new policy.

Adrian Flux seem a bit dodgy - tho I thought they were supposed to be something of a specialist company - they seem to think I have an Audi RS4 insured with them - even tho I don't - causes some issues at times tho easy enough to explain. (thought at first someone had taken out insurance assuming my identity but seems just a glitch in their system).
