Advent 7115 power problem

My girlfriend has an advent 7115, one of them pink jobbies but she is having a problem with it. If she is using it without a power supply it runs fine however when the battery starts to get low she will plug the power supply in and the laptop turns off/restarts.

Any ideas on the problem?

could be a faulty dc socket or the charger, take the battery out and power it up with the psu only, give it a wiggle near the socket and if it turns off try borrow a psu , if it stays on its the dc socket which can be replaced on its own or fit a new mainboard.
