Will take some proper photos later when the AW38 arrives, the G9 fits well on my corner desk though

Nice :) Definitely have oodles of space there in the corner. Fits well! Congratulations buddy.
Wireless keyboard - I always thought they were not as good as wired due to latency and what not?
Has the technology advanced much in this area?

Works really well tbh. I’m not into competitive gaming more single player, besides my reflexes are not what they once were :D

Alas my subscription ran out so I can't tell you. But, I found the difference between the Dell and my old 3440x1440 was about 20%. So my old 3440x1440 was running at 100fps for a game then the Dell was 80fps. That's with a 2070S and yours is a lot faster. So yes, the 3070 will keep you in the happy zone for most games, the 2070S that I have, well, not really. Some games it struggles to reach 60Hz. Monster Hunter runs at about 52Hz ( without DLSS ). I intend to get a 3080/3080ti at some time because the 2070S can't reach the happy zone for all games.

Im waiting for my Dell to arrive and currently on a 35" 3440 x 1440 affair.

The jump is around 20% in pixels, so I assumed 20% lower performance.
But actually its not quite as simple as that, for example, I ran CoD:MW and the beauty is that the game has the ability to scale up resolution, so I scaled up from 3440 x 1440 to 3840 x 1600.

On scene where I was achieving 106fps at the higher res, I would achieve 90ish fps which equates to around 15% lower performance.

So its swings and roundabouts depending on the scene I would say.

(Using a 3080 btw, full settings with RT on).

Is the Dell considered a decent upgrade from the Acer X34P please? Mine has bad IPS glow in the corners of the screen which is a bit annoying, and I want something a little bigger. I just tried a 50" Samsung TV for size to see how a 48" CX would work, but it's just too overwhelming for my desk, for a 38 would be nice size wise.

Ive used a 38" LG beforehand which I didnt like (not because of the size but vignetting).

When I put it on my desk I thought... what... no difference.

But when it came back to packing it and putting it back in the box for returns and putting my 35" back on, I did think there was a difference.

Every inch counts and all that :D

I was contemplating the G9, but its just too wide, I think the 38" is a good compromise.

Fingers crossed I get a good panel :)

I went with the Alienware aw2821dw got it for 1039 so to good to pass up on
How'd you manage that?
I can also get it for 1039 with my employer discount, however I feel like for that money it should have been a FALD. Think it only has 36 zones. Odd it is labelled as gsync ultimate when it doesn't reach 1000 nits.

Also feels like the next wave of monitors will be mini led and hdmi 2.1 so may be worth waiting
