AMD cuts prices, and drops some opterons

    This is relating socket 940 Opterons. Doesn't affect the s939 Opterons at all.

    200 series Opterons are also skt940 and can be used on dual socket motherboards. 800 series are for upto 8 socket motherboards all s940.

    oh, silly me!

    cheers for the explanation. Do you think they might lower the opteron 170 prices as well? (speaking as an eager yet skint buyer;))

    The EE & HE chips are low wattage chips and Socket 940 only, as stated above
