Interesting, if they can launch an RX580 around the £300 mark it should sell well if it's within 1070 performance.

No I dont think so. If you read videocardz other article stated RX 580 will not replaced RX 480 so mean AMD will continue to sell RX 480 at current price and AMD will launch RX 580 at around 1070 price.

Or that the RX480 will be allowed to sink back towards release prices, and they'll bring the RX 580 in a little above? (Kinda like the old 7850 and 7870/90 scenario)?
It could be higher priced than RX480 and still be cheaper than 1070.

If they not replacing the 480 with small Vega, they could bump the performance up 10% at stock clocks and maybe name it 570 and keep it around 200-250 and the 580 at around 300 (299)as I do think Nvidia will have something around 1070 at 300 against Vega as if they not got a refresh for pascal they can drop some 1070's to very close to 300.

Judging by the way 480 prices are falling I'd say they are looking for £250 - £300 for a 580

Love my 480 but I have to say I'd of kept my 280x a bit longer if I'd known this was coming

580 & 560 are not Vega chips but Polaris 10 TX2 (580) and Polaris 11 TX2 (560).

AMD few months ago improved the process and optimised the architecture hence the TX2.
You will see currently some recently manufactured Polaris chips eg the XFX GTR ones, can do 1500-1550 core without any modification and without sweating.

I dont understand how the 580 will be comparable to a 1070, it will have to be a fair amount faster? surely they cant just bump the clock speed a lil bit?

Looks like vega cant compete with anything more than a 1070?

This isn't the Vega card, its the next generation of RX460 and 480 cards. This could be a similar route of the 290/290x to 390/390x and just a rebrand with some overclocking, too early to tell.

Vega will be what the Fury/Fury X was for the R9 series.

AMD Radeon RX 500 Series Detailed – Radeon RX 580 To Feature Polaris 20 XTX, RX 560 To Use Polaris 21 and RX 550 To Use Polaris 12 GPUs

AMD Polaris 12 spotted with 640 Stream Processors

So they reckon Polaris has been using 14LPE the whole time, instead of 14LPP?

That would make a lot of sense if true. 14LPP is supposed to be a nice chunk better, and Polaris under-delivered on what its potential seemed to be.
