Just like I did with Ryzen 7, OcUK has conducted some testing and just like the Ryzen 7 1700 CPU was the sweet spot to buy especially when overclocking due to its lower TDP, nothing changes. The sweet spot in Ryzen 5 is the 1600 processor, due to its 65W TDP it runs cooler than the 1600X and can achieve the same levels of overclocking. In our testing all 1600 chips hit 3.90GHz and some were hitting as high as 4.1GHz when used with 120mm AIO coolers.

As such I and Overclockers UK highly recommend the Ryzen 5 1600 as a fantastic gaming CPU and also for professional use and with more and more software/games supporting multicore, Ryzen really is the future and the Ryzen 5 lineup with the forthcoming RX 5xx lineup will truly allow gamers to put together very capable gaming systems for under £1000.

For example a Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.90GHz + RX 480 8G + FREESYNC Monitor will be a totally amazing gaming platform that does not cost the earth like it does from AMD's rivals.

I am proud to say just as I did with Ryzen 7, AMD is truly BACK IN THE GAME!

Well done AMD! :)

Just in case I did not make it clear, they will appear to buy and IN STOCK around 14:00 on the webshop, we also have plenty of AM4 motherboards in stock as well along with DDR4 memory.

Also as Ryzen 7, all DDR4 works, no need for special Ryzen approved kit, it all works and is just marketing BS. :)

1440P buddy, do not under-estimate the RX 480 with latest drivers they are more than capable at 1440P now, 580 even more so. :)

1600 is the king of 5, 3.9ghz - 4g given and not a shred more available on the 1600X. Put the money saved from getting the 1600 into a better board with the proposed longevity of this platform you all know this makes Pack-fect sense....

Yeah, I can certainly imagine the 580 being so if they've boosted the clocks sufficiently!! Especially if paired with a nice Freesync screen to handle the lows

All this talk of Ryzen having issues with RAM true or false? Any ram should work right? 2666mhz work well? Looking at ryzen for a living room PC build

Ryzen currently does have some issue with RAM, but you shouldn't have any trouble running 2666MHz. The trouble is at higher speeds than that. To be on the safe side make sure your RAM is validated for your chosen board.

With all the reported problems with Ryzen and memory issues. I have a 32Gb kit (4x8gb HyperX DDR4 2666Mhz) that I want to use. Am I able to install all 4 modules or just 2 modules; as seems to be the case with Ryzen motherboards.

Just buy what you want to use but just dont expect 3600mhz ram to run (maybe in a while when the bios and boards mature a bit more)
