I've got a Cisco Router with an ADSL connex.

I'm trying to set it up at the moment, but am not sure what encapsulation to use........

My ISP states to use "VC MUX" unfortunately under the encapsulation options I have are somewhat different.

    They are:

    PPoA with AAL5MUX
    PPoA with AAL5SNAP
    -------I Don't think it's any of these---------
    PPoE
    RFC1843 Routing with AAL5MUX
    RFC1843 Routing with AAL5SNAP
    -----------------------------------------

Which one is the one I want?

Dodgy gui as I need my regular Draytek elsewhere next week and haven't had enough time to learn the router CLI just yet

You're on fire today, almost like having a secont Tolien about :p

O/T have you found a perm job yet (Take it you didn't hear from my boss after you sent your CV as he didn't mention it afterwards)

    lol, cheers!

I'm working as a senior NOC engineer in the city now,

OK, this is knocked up very quickly...

firstly you need an ATM interface...

    interface ATM0
    no ip address
    no ip mroute-cache
    atm ilmi-keepalive
    bundle-enable
    dsl operating-mode auto
    pvc 0/38
    encapsulation aal5mux ppp dialer
    dialer pool-member 1

then you need to create a dialer on it....

    interface Dialer1
    ip unnumbered Ethernet0
    encapsulation ppp
    dialer pool 1
    dialer-group 1
    ppp authentication chap callin
    ppp chap hostname username
    ppp chap password 7 password
ppp pap sent-username username password 7 password
    ppp ipcp address accept
    hold-queue 224 in

obviously you'll need to put in your details for it to work :)

also, it's IOS obviously but I've never used the gui so i can't give you many pointers there..

    Congrats on the Job

I would have preffered to have done it via the CLI but I'm still learning and am unfortunately too short on time :(
