Sorry to be a pain, but if I am picking up a car today, and do not have my cover note and the car is not taxed, am I still allowed to take it from the forecourt? Im waiting for the courier to bring me my cover note so the garage can tax the car for me, but just in the event that it doesnt turn up can I still drive home? Its insured with me from 1 o'clock today.

No you can't drive it. Some garages will not allow you to take them until they are taxed.
