Hey guys,

Since I last had a pc speced, components have changed a lot.
I have now been researching about and would like to know what £2000 can get me .

It must be a complete system (keyboard, mouse, and good headset) and have a 20" widescreen Flatscreen (or better) and must be a really good one aswell.

I would like it to have the best graphics out there, as well as proccessing speed and also can take future upgrades and so on.

I dont know who is best now in the cpu dept, intel conroe or amd2. it all confuzes me. I am moving towards amd tho, dont know why, just seems to be popular with gamers in terms of value for money and so on.

You guys know best !

Oh and I have seen some graphics cards say they have HD, would I need a certain monitor for this?
Thanks in advance

Wooh! Here's a complete build (I think), it's an Intel Conroe system, has the best gfx card available, a 20" flat screen monitor, a gaming keyboard and mouse, 2.1 speaker system (totally your choice if you want 5.1 or 7.1) and a surround sound headset with a detachable microphone.

Left you with your choice of keyboard / mouse and you could possibly even go Xfire if you wanted with the Asus DH mobo and a Xfire master card

Just to add in seeing with those specs you have a good amount of money still to play with, consider getting a raptor as your OS and games HDD and use the 320 gig drive for all your downloads/data etc. Or get 2 raptors and raid them you will be flying then. Or you could get some seriously nice speakers with the left over. Another option is to use the left over to get a the Dell 24 inch screen as they are very very nice :D

Just some other options for you.

I haven't used anywhere near your full budget, but I reckon this offers a good price/performance ratio:

Thanks for the specs guys, looks very good.

So intels conroe seem to now have taken the lead over amd ?
Whats the difference with going with 2mb cache over 4mb ? would it make much of a difference ? Would it be best going with the cheaper 2mb cache 2.13 cpu and save the money ?

oh and for a monitor, the ones mentioned, are these really good in gaming ? eg, no ghosting, or backlight bleed is maybe a problem in dark scenes. ? I have read that the NEC MultiSync® LCD20WGX2 20.1" Widescreen LCD Monitor is a really good one, what your opinions ?
