Check the master socket that the 2 incoming wires are suitably connected to the A and B posts and then use a filtered master socket obviously your line has better potential than that which you initially experienced .
If its worth doing do it right!

My O2 had a week to settle in and was averaging 10.3mb sync speed. I just got a Netgear DG834GT today, first sync 10.5mb, updated the firmware and it was syncing at 10.7mb. Tweaked the SNR and now its at 11.7mb, very happy.

On O2? My line length was a BT Openreach estimate I did from work.

Post your line stats.

My flat is quite new, I have a filtered face plate that I'm plugged directly into with a 30cm dsl cable, on my parents line (10 meters away) I was getting 8.5mb with a big extension.

I think you could get a little bit more by using custom firmware and reducing the SNR if your line is stable now.

Your actual line length is probably longer than samknows says it is too, I could check it if you wanted to send me your landline phone number to run a BT line test.

My stats now

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 12185 kbps 1282 kbps
Line Attenuation 43.0 db 25.7 db
Noise Margin 3.1 db 6.2 db
