Ive just finished my University Placement and am just wondering how I go about claiming my Tax back? Anyone done it before? Its it as simple as filling out the P50 form from the HMRC and sending it off? Thanks everyone
surely all students who've had a placment have done this? Yes it is just as simple as filling out the form and awaiting the cash.
Yes, you can get it back. HMRC are not mind readers. It's only once the tax year is over that they can work it out. They can't tell if you have started a placement or a full time job unless you let them know.
I suspect its because you earn less than you allowance within that tax year. ie April to ending your job in August and went back to uni, so the 4 months wages is less than £4/5k.
