Any way to "start again" with xbox live account?

Hi,
Bought an xbox 360 from a mate, but of course it is set up with his xbox live account and his achievements etc. He has about 11 months left on xbox live so can't just cancel the account. Is there any way to "start again"?

The only thing you could possibly do is.. change the account name....Cost around 800 MS points...but it will keep all gamerscore ect...not a bad thing.

I might be being stupid, but can't you just set up your own account on the box?

Indeed, just set up a brand new account and delete his.

Unless I'm miss-understanding, the account he has on the Xbox has 11 months left of a subscription, which he would like to keep.

Non transferable then, he either pays 800 points to keep the same account (inc achievements, history etc.)and renames it, or he will have to start from fresh.

You could create your own account and use his for 11 months for multiplayer stuff?

Get him to phone MS and they will refund the 11 months, and get him to give you the refund to pay for your own live
