Having never seen this, I might give it a watch tonight. Do I go for the original or redux? Redux is longer....right?

Redux definitely – one of my all-time favourite films.

Just don't expect the action of 'We Were Soldiers' or the latest Hollywood blockbuster.

It's a slow burner but it's a damn good watch.

You might be better off with the original imo, if you like it, watch the redux next time as its a bit drawn out. Or maybe you got nowt better to do tonight so what the hell, redux it.

This. It's about 3h20m so you might want to get cracking if you plan to watch it tonight.

Redux, like someone said, more Kilgore. My favourite Coppola film.

    Redux.

But don't fall asleep during the French plantation scene. It's been the downfall of many a viewer.

Completely agree. You can see why it was cut.

I watched Redux and found it incredibly dull. I haven't seen the original though.

Redux is pretty much the only film I've had real trouble staying awake for. I'll give it another chance some day though.

It's Redux or nothing. Buy a cow and remember to kill it at the right moment. This is essential for the ambience.

Pay close attention during the French plantation scene. The entire movie hinges on a crucial 3-minute dialogue within that scene. I won't say any more unless I spoil it for you.

I've only watched the original and quite enjoyed it, is it worth watching the redux?

Redux is the one with the playboy bunnies right. I like that they had all that footage and the version exists but the actual original cut was the best. Theres no need to watch redux on the first go unless you like longer films

    What was your verdict slime

If you liked the original and have got three and a half hours to spare then yes. I saw Redux first and loved it, the original feels incomplete by comparison.

There is a documentry called "Hearts of Darkness - A Director's Apocalypse". That's worth watching too.
